I edited the roads in my neighborhood on June 4 and still don't see the update on the main map. This is unfortunate because I can't use the map for emergency planning until the roads are correct and I have to use the map today during a webinar. Why do the edits take so long to show? When I use the editor, my updated map is there, just it hasn't been updated on the main map and it has been almost a week.

BrettKP you might want to check out
http://www.informationfreeway.org/

It allows you to manually choose which tiles to update.

informationfreeway updates only tiles for Osmarender style. With Mapnik style you can request single tiles to be redrawn. Just view a single tile and add /dirty to the URL, e.g.
http://b.tile.openstreetmap.org/16/10356/23617.png/dirty
"Tile submitted for rendering" will be shown. The new image is sometimes available in seconds, but sometimes you'll have to wait hours.
Be sure to clear your browser caches.

When you are viewing the map, there is a "+" on the right-hand side. If you click it, it will let you change to a different style. Try selecting Osmarender and seeing if your changes appear. Edits usually show up quicker in Osmarender than Mapnik.

@compdude mapnik generally renders within 5 minutes, unless there was a previous tile rendering within a specified time limit, you can force it, but generally most of the time the browser is caching tiles, not the server.

It allows you to manually choose which tiles to update. Having your map you can search your lost way. So map is very useful in traveling.
