I just discovered OpenStreetMap.org the other day while comparing applications on the iPhone. Namely my Brother-in-Law introduced me to Trails for the iPhone from which of course I came across OpenStreetMap.org.
At first I was disappointed with the lack of streets in my area and then I realized that I could improve the situation by mapping out areas myself.
Watchout for new mapping happening just North/West of Toowoomba Queensland.

Hi Brentyn, really cool for me to get on this entry - I'm working now on iPhone mapping tool for OSM - and some alpha version will be available in couple of weeks ;)
I'll anounce the tool release date in osm mailing lists.
Best,
Oleg

Hi,
Welcome to the project :)
I'v just done a few hours worth of 'linting' (fixing errors created by potlach) in your area. Please let me know if you got any question.

Oh, and regarding the iPhone;
MotionX-GPS is by far the best GPS app I'v come about. Integrated OSM maps and exporting GPX tracks etc..
