A Manifesto for the OpenStreetMap Foundation Board by Brazil Singh

I am Brazil Singh, an open mapping advocate, digital innovator, web developer, and community leader from Bangladesh. As an Open Mapping Guru at the Open Mapping Hub Asia-Pacific, I equip communities with practical and impactful mapping skills. I play a key role in managing social media for the OSMF, and actively contribute as a volunteer in the OSMF Local Chapters and Communities Working Group (LCCWG).
As a dedicated mapper, trainer, community organizer, and advocate, I have worked with the OSM ecosystem at local, regional, and international levels. From mapping in flood-affected areas of Thailand to mentoring YouthMappers across Asia and beyond, to volunteering with HOT and the OSMF Communication Working Group, I have seen firsthand how collaboration can create meaningful impact.
My work extends to collaborations with NGOs on slum mapping initiatives in Bangladesh, and I have supported a local grocery and food delivery company in optimizing their routes using OpenStreetMap data. My contributions have earned me recognitions such as the YouthMappersRegional Ambassador and the OSM Community Champion .
My Vision for OSMF
If elected to the OSMF Board, I will focus on:
-
Inspiring the Next Generation of Mappers
-
Reperesenting the voice of local communities to the Board
-
Promoting Digital Inclusion
-
Collaborate with organizations to integrate OSM data into humanitarian workflows.
-
Strengthening OSMF Governance
-
Advocate for transparent and inclusive decision-making processes within the OSMF.
-
Ensure that the voices of diverse community members are heard and considered.

Call to Action
I bring energy, proven leadership, and deep grassroots experience. My work bridges the local and the global, and I understand the challenges faced by both new mappers and long-time contributors. I am committed to listening, collaborating, and acting in the best interests of the whole OSM community.
OpenStreetMap has given me opportunities to grow, learn, and contribute. Now, I want to give back, by helping guide the OSMF Board to a future that is inclusive, innovative, and community-first.
Let’s shape the map, together.
I invite you to join me in this journey. Your vote is a step towards empowering communities and advancing the mission of open mapping.
