I had mapped most of k Kaduna with a lot of help of OSMers out there in July after it came up in high res on yahoo. 3 months later and I am here in person for the FIFA World Cup U17, so a nice opportunity to update street names. That basically means hanging off the back of a motorbike, Garmin HCX in one hand Mobile in the other
screaming around town trying to take the best interpretation of street sign spellings, often only on shop windows and placards.
Updating this data means that I can take the Texas copyright / accreditation of some of the tags, also, some of the street names have been changed since that map was compiled ( usually to ex political leaders! ) . Anyway, might grab an hour now while it is sunny, kickoff at 4pm

Nice one!
May I ask you to check on the ground two issues, which bothers me for some time. Of course, only if you drive by anyway.
I. is there really a really big rock at
osm.org/?lat=10.5311563&lon=7.4123067&zoom=18 ?
II. if the 'Nigeria Police Training School' area extends to the other side of Independence Way.
Enjoy your stay and the games.
May the crocodile be with you! :D

Is there anything we can do to make it easier for Nigerians to contribute?

Very well Wynndale.
Its amazing to see the level of works done on the entire map and the concerns you have. I frequent Nigeria and may be able to help with the states I tend to visit (stay), which is largely South Western. Perhaps we can liaise as I see much is still needed to be done for Nigeria.

Many thanks for all the comments so far - quick replies are as follows
Bass - I will check out the rock if I can - that part of town is dense and a bit of the beaten track even though it looks so close to the centre
The police college does extend both sides of Independence way at the southern end
Wynndale, Agbo, i don't know where to start, access to Internet for Nigerians is limited or very expensive, and lets face it, mapping, even to the scant detail I work to is time consuming. If I had more time here i would get people on board and interested. i guess it needs a critical mass of people to start contributing, even GPX traces of the main roads would be a great start.
