Moin,

Hi,
I got in contact with EnBW, the operator of the new wind park in front of the coast of Germany. They donated me the exact positions of the generators, so now they are visible for Wikipedia and flight simulators, too :)
Hi,
when I worked on the usergroupsmap, I got in contact with a lot of local OSM chapters. So I was interested how mapping might work in different continents, where the situation is completely different from ours here in central europe.
So I initiated the 'How do you map in ...' series to create a platform where usergroups can give the community a overview how different mapping can be.
#1 presents Russia

But this series needs you for new issues! Of course I will assist you in every kind (wiki edits, review, ideas,...) but this personal story should be written by users all over the world

So who's nation is next? Which place you are interested in?
Well great news, the UN released an report, listing the abilities of Crisismapping by our Community during the Haiti desaster
http://www.unfoundation.org/global-issues/technology/disaster-report.html
Think this is a small milestone that shows that OSM is a very serious project :)
Esp. nice cause I wrote an article on Crisismapping in January for the German bureau of civil protection and crisis managing (BBK). Hopefully this will result in more high res material for upcoming activities.
Well, the team of our city was quite busy the past months. Starting from a ratio of somewhat of ~60%, we collected the remaining ones of total 23080 housenumbers since January. At our meetup (with a special 'damn housenumbers completed!' BBQ) we decided that 97% is enough to say that we are finished. The remaining ones are mostly abandoned areas, supermarkets, ... so stuff thats not that easy to fill in in the near future.
Thanks again folks, this community really rocks :-)
Thanks to EMerzh a new issue of the CUs is out:

Man,

Hi,
thanks to EMerzh we published the next issue of the CU newsletter:

Hi,
we proudly presents the next issue of the Community Updates newsletter:

Hi folks,
check out what happened in the OSM universe:
osm.wiki/Community_Updates/2011-02-28
Ok I know this is a bit offtopic but check this out

how would you map this one? :)
The past weeks I got in contact with every OSM nation that is active on the wiki or mailinglists. The result is not that impressing as I expected: there are only 87 groups Oo
http://usergroups.openstreetmap.de
What I found out is, that a lot of nations are connected using very losely networks of skype, irc, ... mostly cause the distance is to high or the most live somewhere else and do armchair mapping.
In Nov last year I analyzed the user contributions on our Wiki. 4 months past, so I did it again:

-2186 Users were active during the past 3 month
-72.3% did less than 10 edits/3 months
-97% did less than 100 edits/3 months
-only 34 users did over 150 edits/3 months
So I have to say nothing significant changed :(
But it's you we need! A wiki is only useful when it's alive, when outdated content got replaced and everybody does just a bit of this job.
A wiki is OUR library and not a collection of articles that is owned by the authors. So please help us doing one of the following things:
Yesterday while mapping housenumbers. Suprisingly the Aiptek cam survived a full drive across OO
VideoMapping for OSM can be dangerous...for the camcorder from heho on Vimeo.
Hi, today I finished my bot that collects all user groups together, that are marked with that wiki template:
osm.wiki/Template:User_group
Hope I will run it a few times a day to get a fresh map on:

Lets see where the mappers are :)
Hi,
I got in contact to some devs coding on 3D OSM stuff. So I created a page getting all together.
Now hopefully we can step forward and think about how to provide detailed 3D models to OSM:

Feel free to join the discussion at the wiki!
