Olen keksinyt mitä erinäisempiä reittejä tulla Luopioisista takaisin Hämeenlinnaan.

Muutaman kuukauden prosessin aikana ainakin seuraavaa on tapahtunut:

- Pälkäneentie nro 57 Pyöristetty mutkia
- Valtatie 12 Pyöristetty mutkia
- Tie 307 Valkeakoskelle.
- Tie 310 Valkeakoskelta Sääksmäelle + Valkeakosken keskustaa
- Tie 3073 Uskilantie / Retulantie (välillä 307 - 57)
- Tie 322 Pyöristetty mutkia, lisätty loput tielle 325
- Tie 325 Kuhmoinen - Kangasala

On Monday we had the first OSM meet-up in the Johannesburg area http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/index.php/South_Africa/JHB_Pub_Meet.

I decided to do some mapping on the way there, namely to fill in any residential roads missing in the Kyalami area. Turned out to be another 60km+ of cycling in hilly terrain.

Turns out that I should think twice before returning to fill in the tracks and footpaths :

Happened to be in Elvetham Heath yesterday (doing some voluntary stuff in the nature reserve in a cunning work scheme to get a day out of the office), and had noticed previously that it was basically missing. (Someone had very helpfully added exactly the road I was looking for however)
So, arriving a little early, I got a few more traces for some of the streets.
Unfortunately I had forgotten to recharge my batteries or to bring a pen, so I could only add a few streets and couldn't note any of the names. Damn! :(
Anyway, at least Elvetham Heath Way now connected between the A323 and A3013.
When I can be bothered, i'll have to head down there again one evening after work and do a bit more.

Last Tuesday, at long last got back to Ely to complete the new housing development off King's Avenue and the area around the Princess of Wales hospital.

The former has moved on somewhat since I was last there, including an almost complete new roundabout linking to the B road to Prickwillow. However there is still much housing under construction south of King's Avenue and will need another visit in a year or so to update.

The latter includes some new housing on land sold off by the Ministry of Defence around this old military, now civilian, hospital, but also includes some military housing which I balked at, seeing the notices "this is a prohibited area under the meaning of the Official Secrets Act".

Then continued north to fill in a bit more detail around the small village of Chettisham on my way to Littleport (see separate entry).

Littleport is a village of about 7,000 people in the heart of the Cambridgeshire Fens about 5 miles north of Ely. There was an almost believable skeleton of roads already present (quite a few residential streets) but it was highly selective and, it turned out, with lots of errors. Spent two mapping trips, today and last Tuesday, doing the town systematically so that it is now complete.

There is a large chunk of new housing being built of Highfield Drive in the southwest of the town. The first phase is largely complete, and now mapped of course, but the second phase is barely started, so Littleport will need another visit in a year or so to fill in these new streets.

I am still quite new to OSM and JOSM, but I have added a small chunk of my current project in Clonmel Co. Tipperary. It has a few main roads, a pedestrian road or two and I have mapped out parking spaces, shopping centers etc. Also included the odd one way streets of Clonmel.

Roads have no names(updating that very soon) and are preset for tertiary, unclassified and pedestrian types.

Roads are visible in Osmarender and preset buildings are visible in max zoom.
All found at my given Lat. and Long. below.

These will probably change a little again soon but these are still basic tests.

I've hacked up a viewer program that runs on Windows Mobile using CartoType, my map rendering library (www.cartotype.com). The UK OSM data compresses down to about 27MB. The style sheet gives a display that looks very similar to Mapnik's rendering; the viewer renders on the fly and the map can be zoomed out to show the whole of the UK, or right in to street level. By this evening I should have the program, data file, and style sheet up on the CartoType web site for free download; and also the data conversion tool, so that anyone who wants can make new CartoType map data files (CTM1 files) from OSM data.

I'll also make the Windows XP version available. It uses the same data file.

I made my first OSM edits tonight. Mostly, I added cycle paths in my immediate neighborhood, but I also removed two "bad" roads that were in TIGER -- one was really a driveway (so I removed it as a highway), the other was a driveway, but has been upgraded to a residential street and given a name, so I fixed it up and named it.

I intend to start mapping some newer subdivisions in my immediate area soon, along with cleaning up some TIGER data (it still shows old railroads where the Fox River Trail now is, for instance).

Mapping following n-121, several nice places like Igantzi, Lesaka, Bera and going through France.
Added ref to france highways and changed from secondary to tertiary but maybe French people uses diferent notation.
