A shop to get your normal clothes washed. Might be self service coin operated, with service staff for drop off, ...
Don't confuse this with shop=dry_cleaning, which usually use a special cleaning procedure.

Discussion
- Looks a simple useful addition to me MikeCollinson 08:09, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
- Laundrettes (UK?) vs. Laundromat (US?) vs. Laundrys - if there's anyone really know the differences, please let us know -- Ulfl 10:23, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
- I think laundromat would be understood everywhere in the world (i'm not sure about laundrettes) --EdoM (lets talk about it) 10:36, 14 December 2007 (UTC)
- Hmmm, there seems to be a little dispute about the US vs. UK term. Maybe it's just better to use shop=laundry, this way we can use it also for "drop-off" laundries that are not self service - or even a mix of both serviced and self service. -- Ulfl 18:39, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
- On the mailing list it was suggested to use shop=laundry and self-service=yes/no. This avoids UK/US and brand naming arguments, and clarifies if the shop is a self-service place to wash clothes. Would you also get self-service=both? I propose we change the proposal. - LastGrape 21:21, 16 December 2007 (UTC)
Proposal changed: changed from shop=laundromat to more generic laundry and added tags for self_service and laundry_service. -- Ulfl 14:40, 31 December 2007 (UTC)
