Summary

Description
English: Conifer forest, Sierra National Forest, near Downieville, California. The habitat of the Sierra National Forest is a mixture of both natural and significantly disturbed areas. Besides its protected natural ecosystems, large portions have been extensively altered by human activity and resulting compounding effects. Ponderosa pine, Jeffrey pine, sugar pine, white fir and lodgepole pine are found at different elevations and zones. At higher elevations red fir and mountain hemlock are found, and pinyon pine and western juniper at lower elevations. All these species are native to western North America.
Afrikaans: Konifeerwoud te Sierra Nasionale Bos naby Downieville, Kalifornië. Die habitat van die Sierra Nasionale Bos is 'n mengsel van sowel natuurlike en aansienlik versteurde gebiede. Benewens die beskermde natuurlike ekostelsel, is groot dele omvangryk deur menslike aktiwiteit verander met gevolglike saamgestelde effekte. Geel-, swart-, suiker- en draaidenne, benewens witabiet word op verskillende hoogtes en sones aangetref. Op hoër hoogtes word rooispar en berghemlok aangetref, en piniondenne en westelike jenewer op laer hoogtes. Al hierdie spesies is inheems aan westelike Noord-Amerika.
