Thank you for assisting in reverting the vandalism in Israel.
As a result of the massive corruption and its co-existant with various revert attempts, a proper revert is hard to do.

For example, this changeset deleted
way/702077917/history
which was previously reverted (in version 14) to its pre-vandalism state (version 5)

Please coordinate any future revert efforts in Israel with the Israeli community using the OSM Israel telegram channel

The revert of the vandalism in Israel is still on-going. Please avoid performing local manual fixes, as they complicate the global reverts.

For example, in this edit
way/1120406737/history
relation/15337322/history
and 4 other nodes were deleted rather than reverted to their pre-vandalism status.

I thought that the underground aspect of the Carmelit is not represented.

However, I see that the "funicular" has been used to describe the Carmelit since
changeset/8497809
- more than 12 years ago.

name is an expected tag for boundary relations

Was this by mistake?

This edit was done during a vandal attack on the OSM map in Israel.
As far as I know, it did not edit any at-the-time vandalized elements

Thank you for your effort to fix the vandalism.

To fix things properly, you need to be aware of the status of the map before the vandals attack. Unfortunately. the default editor, iD, is not built for such tasks.

for example, way/1008812378 is now located in a different place than it was on 12-Oct-23, as you can see at

I will appreciate if instead, you would join the OSM Israel Telegram channel, track the progress of the on-going revert efforts and report mapping issues you find.

The original coastlines
way/97503874
way/179585220
were partially deleted by vandals.
way/1220143190
was created 5 days ago, while the recovery was still in progress, to close the gap between them.
After the damaged coastlines were restored, there newly added coastline is creating a duplication.

I removed it in changeset/143707134

Thank you for the report!
Please let me know if you find additional problems. They are expected as many mappers tried to do local fixes to the map while the systematic recovery sill continues

While the revert of the vandalism is on-going, it is advised to avoid important edits in Israel as they may be partially or fully reverted.
