whoaaa!!!!!!!!!

In addition to the World Bank, there are other organizations which can help develop improvements.
http://www.ted.com/talks/sasha_dichter.html - this is a video where Sasha Dichter talks about projects in India.

If water and sanitation are the main issues facing Tandale, then perhaps the investors can fund a startup company which can solve a sanitation issue, or a water supply issue. Perhaps a water bottling factory would improve things.

About Openstreetmap in Tanzania

I believe that the Army Mapping Service has a map of your area.

I believe that Army Mapping Service maps count as public domain. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_copyright_law#Public_domain

mukuru mapping

Is it more muddy than the Lena highway in russia?

Dotted lines

I went and deleted the extraneous tags. someone noted there was a gate at the south end of the street, so I tagged it as a gate with bike and pedestrian access (sorry for armchair mapping and making assumptions about your neighbourhood
)

Floating Islands

ditto on the 'false positive' you're mapping what is there.
For routing, perhaps a gps should be able to route you across fields.

British Library and old maps of Ireland

maps from the 19th century would be out of copyright.
The benefits is that you can also map ruins for places which are no longer there, and add historical names.

Silly spammer. Doesn't he know that this website adds a rel="nofollow" to all the links, so all those links will not be followed by the google search engine.

He's wasting his time.

Mapping coastlines from Kayak

You might want to consider mapping the spots that you'd want to share with friends, or interesting spots.

ie.. if you know of a ghost town along the coast, or know where the lost city of atlantis is.. it'd be fun to map.

Project of the Week Pitch Problems

I think 'pitch' is an English word, not a US word.

poor living enviroment

Perhaps a sanitation system similar to what London did would work. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_sewerage_system

Airport Runway Names

from the runway on the north island, the numbers on the runways help you name them.

The south west corner of the south island looks like a residential or resort area.

Design of tag transformer (unabbreviator) plugin for JOSM

Also, expanding it to be "Willi-Brand-Street" would be wrong as well.
Also, from the documentation wiki "St. could be Street or Saint" so St. Elmo's Fire would be renamed "Street Elmo's Fire" if you automate things too much.

Help

yes, you can get OSM on the Garmin gps's as well as mobile apps on smartphones.
osm.wiki/OSM_Map_On_Garmin/Download

look for osm in your app store

Newbee - Accuracy of maps and images

yes, there will be survey benchmarks in a city for example.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benchmark_(surveying)

Also, when I grew up, property was staked out, and there'd be a peg in the ground specifying a property line corner.

Моя первая работа

Looks good. The only thing that needs fixing is to connect roads so that a GPS device can route a path through the town.

There are tools that let you see how well a network of roads is connected:

Newbee - Accuracy of maps and images

You'll find that outside city limits, the tiling seems to be done like a jigsaw puzzle, one tile shifted to match the next one. In the middle of a jungle such as at the Guyana border, the imagery can be off by 100 meters.

Is there a way to translate the Diary Entry ??

Google chrome translates pages automatically. I would not trust a 'computer repair' place which doesn't know that bit of information.

Also, all the good spammers know that when a site like this one has 'nofollow' tags on all the links, that their link doesn't get indexed by Google's search engine, so they know better to move on to another forum which does index links.

GPS's are killing people in the desert.

I think I would interpret 4wd only as being a legislative thing, rather than a practicality.

Is it ok to add a 'highway = track' tag to pistes?

rescues in the Callahan valley would be with trucks, atv's and or helicopters.
