Hi!
This square has been in works for long time (https://www.eixdiari.cat/territori/doc/76586/finalitzen-les-obres-de-restauracio-de-la-placa-de-la-vila-de-vilanova.html)
One of the things you can see they have changed is the marble's base of the sculpture in the middle of the square. I have preserved the old form with cyclelife prefix tags, centered in year. Maybe you would think it is better to remove this "pedestal", but this item is so important in the "life" of the square.
Take a look. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBBlVBjqmG8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qJCtMce7VHU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lzyh1xWWHO0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sY1jYfZjY14 These are public moments in which the square is the "center" of the action. As you can see, the use of this zone of the square has changed and it is important to keep the historical information about how was the square. For this reason I have kept the info about the year of the change and the old form of the monument.

Ok. Thanks for the election of the words. So you are saying iD editor sucks? (Because this adaptation is due the issue of iD done by bhousel ). Does the possibility of edit traffic signs via iD by newbie mappers scare them?
You can say also this words to them in their issue:
https://github.com/openstreetmap/iD/pull/5333
Also I will copy this text and publish it to never forget you think about a mapper who tries to make bigger the possibilities of edition in OSM.

The cardinal direction is not a good idea: roads and streets are not so straight then direction would change in every curve, every kilometer. Imagine at the mountain :
direction=SW and 100 meter later direction=N . It is not confusing, drawn way has a direction (this direction would be the same about the pk's, or the order of housenumbers.

-This (non-mechanical) edition is not undiscussed.
This edition is about the discussion done in tagging list http://gis.19327.n8.nabble.com/Re-Traffic-sign-direction-tagging-td5923137.html about the subkeys forward and backward (my favourite option, this was not an easy decision for me but I have prefered the enable in iD and close the discussion) and the issues of iD to add the possibility to edit traffic signs. iD was big trouble to make able these editions. So in the list it was discussed the solution (change :backward /:forward subkey for traffic_sign:direction=* as the traffic_signals) , and also the iD issue solved and closed (you can see it in https://github.com/openstreetmap/iD/pull/5333 ).

The discussion ended (many days without any message in reference to that topic)

So I said I will do all the modifications on the environment: presets, styles, taginfo projects, traffic_signs_maps .
And also I start to modify the "old scheme" traffic signs to the new scheme.
I have used overpass to make only these modifications - with JOSM and checking via style traffic signs were correct:

-traffic_sign:forward/backward=* > traffic_sign=* & traffic_sign:direction=forward/backward/both.

So please tell me exactly How many cases of traffic sign tagging I have broken? (I did 55 changesets with 16470 nodes)
Can you say also the % of the broken tagging cases I have done with the total of modifications?

Sorry but I don't speak German.
Applying this solution the iD issue was closed.

So the different info per direction was not lost due to the apply of the tag traffic_sign:direction, like the traffic_signals.

Sorry but I think you are wrong:
1- If you read Wikipedia or http://wetten.overheid.nl/BWBR0004825/2018-07-01#Bijlage1) .... I don't see any 0 in NL:C2 or NL:A1 so your code is not correct.
2-In OSM (not the real world) ways have always a direction (the way it was drawn, like the rivers) so you can go forward this direction and also backward this direction . It is not relevant if going backward is not allowed for the fact to put a traffic sign in OSM...which means it is not allowed to going backward by motor_vehicle - what about pedestrians? . So NL:C2 is in most of the situation...backward to the normal vehicle traffic.
What is wrong? I'm only taking traffic signs with direction info and add this direction to the :forward, :backward subkey to follow the used schemes in maxspeed, overtaking, orientation... Is the info existed wrong? Correct it but don't erase it. I have checked the ways with JOSM to know the direction it was drawn. And also I have the Mapillary objects and pic info. It is not an automatted edit.

It is easy, it is like the was prefix but with the exact information of year. It is important because this fact will change the life of all the city (this was the only free fee parking beach and it is well-know from about all the region). Even there is some TV program with the new beauty beach zone. http://www.ccma.cat/tv3/alacarta/rols-de-parella/chenoa-i-latre-far-de-vilanova-i-la-geltru/video/5774328/

In English you can translate it with Google Translator I will not spend any minute more to talk with people who insults me as Antonio does.

Was a test, because the cache of my JOSM was not clean. The tagging scheme is being consistent (no big changes since one year ago), and the tests via JOSM/Vespucci preset , JOSM style or kendzi3d pluggin are successful. When the test finish (only miss aerial panels backwards in some roads) I will map these junctions as the others.

Well, I only add the new tag for direction (direction was explicit with the tag direction= and the code of your traffic_sign country's law as I do in Spain or Argentina (commented with their community)
