Do you know if the Heineken brewery is only on the East side of the main road or also on the West side?
(Newest satellite imagery shows an industrial area also west of this road, which looks quite similar as the brewery)

You changed the way along the Hlawga lake into a footpath in this changeset. What is the source of this information?
The newest satellite imagery shows a road of at least 5m width. (MapBox imagery is newer than Bing imagery in the Yangon region, I am not sure if you can see it in Potlatch)

Hi NayZarAung

You changed the classification of Pyi Htaung Su Road to primary. Why do you think this should be classified as a primary road?

Yes I totally get the point of the guy who wrote that into the wiki. Though I think the assumption that stands behind that guideline is less valid for Myanmar. I.e. I believe borders are officially set in text form ("up Pazadaung Creek until Nga Moe Yeik, then...") rather than in cadastre form.

But still, thanks for the info, I will review my borders to take this into account

All duplication except for the townships involved in data discrepancy between MIMU and wikipedia (South Dagon, Dagon Seikkan and East Dagon) are resolved now.

I tend toward using the MIMU data because
1. it fits to the other parent level MIMU data - using wikipedia data would leave a hole where it is unspecified what township an area belongs to
2. I have a hunch that the wikipedia data may be originally based on a copyrighted map even though it claims not to (it claimes to be based on openstreetmap)

Another discrepancy which needs to be resolved now. Which of the two is correct might be guesswork, but we need to decide on one now to remove the duplication. These two relations describe the same township:
wikipedia data: "East Dagon" relation/5834432#map=13/16.9149/96.2883&layers=N
MIMU data: "Dagon Myothit (East)" relation/5996591#map=12/16.9476/96.2663

What is your opinion?

For a moment I panicked in the fear of OSM conflicts, but Yangon city level is 4 *phew*. So I am merging admin-level >= 4.

37361148 almost 10 years ago

Discrepancy 1: The imported data splits Yangon into "Yangon, West" and "Yangon, East" while the previous data (derived from information on Wikipedia) splits Yangon into 4 districts - North, West, East, South. So, which one is correct, wikipedia or import (=MIMU?)? At first glance, it looks like MIMU data "Yangon, West" coincides with wikipedia data "Western District" + "Northern District" and MIMU data "Yangon, East" coincides with wikipedia data "Eastern District" + "Southern District". If this is the case, I suggest we take the wikipedia data as it seems to be more precise.

I added the districts one after another in different changesets. Affected are the borders of every township in Yangon Eastern District ( see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Dagon_Township#/media/File:Yangon_Districts_and_townships.png ) except for North Okkalapa Township. So this is Botataung Township, Dagon Seikkan Township, East Dagon Township, North Dagon Township, Pazundaung Township, South Dagon Township, South Okkalapa Township, Thingangyun Township. But nevermind that, I am currently merging the borders of the imported data with the one I added earlier. Though, there are some discrepancies. We have to decide which version of the data should be used on OSM (see next message).

Oh well, since I am the only one who started adding the administrative boundaries to Yangon, I will take on the merging of the duplicated data. So, no action required from you, but please be more cautious of existing data when importing datasets in the future.

37361148 almost 10 years ago

Most districts of Eastern Yangon (work in progress) already have an administrative boundary on the map which is also more detailed as the one you imported. So the information you added is duplicate.

You did not only align the road to aerial imagery but also changed the classification from trunk to primary. Why?

Usually, bypass roads do have a higher classification than the road it should bypass.

What do you mean with "52 St. Makami Area"?

If it is a muslim neighbourhood, then the correct tag is to tag it as place=neighbourhood. I just went ahead and did that, please get back to me if I understood this wrong.

Regarding the Yazadirit Road: Are you sure that this is a one way road all the way that goes to the west (and not the east)?

What about the road that goes right parallel to it, is it also named Yazadirit Road and is it also a one way road (into the other direction I presume)?
