What does the data on this node: node/9995967338 in the gnis:feature_id mean? It's not a valid ID but I presume it's something else..?

Hello! The wikidata id for Faith Promise Church ended up erronously in the gnis:feature_id tag. I've cleaned it up but wanted to let you know in case there was some confusion. The rest of the edit looks great! Happy mapping.

This change (and a few others) have the wikidata item info (Q33234493) in the gnid:feature_id tag. I've cleaned it up but figured I'd let you know.

The post office had this in the gnis_id tag: "1668305News Highlights - Canucks vs Red Wings (Dec.20,1978)....Kings vs Canucks (Dec.23,1978)....Sabres vs Canucks (Dec.28,1978)" I have cleaned it up but I thought you might find it amusing.

way/189149801 has gnis:feature_id=10/01/1990

I've taken the liberty of patching it up for you. ;-)

Hello! The gnis:feature_id tag is specifically for the GNIS id. It seems you have pulled the GND id from the wikidata page. I'll fix this one up but wanted to let you know.

Hello! The tag gnis:feature_id is for numeric identifiers. I'm not sure which tag would be a better container for what is here. Do you remember where it came from?

Hello!
Welcome to the map. I noticed that some of the feature outlines could be improved by squaring the corners after tracing. In the web editor you can accomplish this by hitting the 'q' key after selecting the object.

Happy mapping!

Sounds swell. The tags are wily sometimes.

112236059 almost 3 years ago

Hello! The wiki info should go in the it's own tag. gnid:feature_id is for the identifier from the Geographic Names database. I've fixed this one but you may wish to review any others you've touched. Happy mapping!

Sensible enough. After some more digging it seems there's a reasonable enough proposal to support units in the ele tags. It seems they would prefer the syntax (12'6" over 12ft6in) but I don't think it's super problematic either way. osm.wiki/Proposed_features/ele_with_units

124117750 almost 3 years ago

JOSM is annoyed a bit with the nodes that have ele tags like "171 ft". The wiki says all ele tag should be in meters and without other units. Perhaps I've missed some other information about local tagging? I admit I'm not super familiar with this tag.

Sometimes to tools are inscrutable ha.

When I did the Indianapolis address import, if the address were somewhat suspicious, I would leave addresses off the buildings entirely and place an address node near the "middle" of the building group with the one address. My hope was this would make is easier to spot places that needed some one the ground work (StreetComplete ect). I'm not sure there's a perfect solution.

129965290 almost 3 years ago

Oh, here's the small fix I made to the building geometry here. In case that is helpful to see changeset/131218810#map=19/40.12251/-75.01550

129965290 almost 3 years ago

Some of the building footprints here had some small bad geometry. They do seem to be caught by the JOSM validator so just be on the lookout.

I also suspect that the chunk of buildings with housenumber 12021 may need specific of different address info. If that's the case I've been leaving a "fixme=survey unit numbers" tag to let someone know that it would be helpful to eventually collect some more data.

Anyhow, good job working through the area. Happy mapping.

There's a few places with odd geometry in this changeset. One particular thing that can be improved is adding the use of multipolygons for areas with cutouts in them. I have fixed up one such instance here changeset/131217381. Here's some reading about how to achieve this in iD and avoid the warnings and potential errors in rendering osm.wiki/Relation:multipolygon

Definitely let me know if you have any trouble with it. Happy mapping.

There's a lot of warnings about bad geometry on this changeset. Can you take a first pass at cleaning it up? For example this node node/10268156138/history seems to only serve as a note but I suspect 1) you meant it to be on the roadway node and 2) I'm not sure what the meaning is?

Appreciate any insight you can provide.

Hello! I have corrected a bit of odd geometry in this changeset. If you'd like to take a look it's here: changeset/131213236. There were some duplicated nodes on the building and some extra nodes for the northern fence I wasn't quite sure what to make of. It can be a bit hard in iD to see things like that when it complains at you. One thing that I find helpful is to jiggle some of the nodes around the point it's complaining about... sometimes that can make is more obvious.

It's also helpful if you can make your changesets a bit more descriptive osm.wiki/Good_changeset_comments. Makes it a bit easier for other folks to browse what's happening.

Keep up the good work. Let me know if you have any concerns.

The MRCA multipolygon appears to have ways overlapping themselves and the validator isn't super pleased. Any chance you can take a look and see what's the right way to get it cleaned up? I was gonna give it a try but I realized I'm not quite sure what it's supposed to look like and which are cutouts etc.

Should be "Add Address data from NAD" but I'm not sure how to change the description. Ah well.
