Unless that track is really named, "CLOSED April 1-Sept 14", might I suggest the use of conditional restrictions and the description tag, rather than the name tag.

* osm.wiki/Good_practice#Don't_use_name_tag_to_describe_things
* osm.wiki/Conditional_restrictions
* description=*

Also, Michigan mappers have been meeting up once a month. See our Wiki page for details (and a cheat sheet for common mapping schemes and more).

Oops. That would be me using the new phone app "Every Door", not knowing that by touching the big blue button saying "cards are accepted" was behind the scenes adding the tags for all the options in the "Default Payment Types", which I had not configured for our area. I'll have to follow my tracks to fix this.

Not sure we've met. Since 2020, many Michigan mappers have been meeting monthly. watch the Wiki for information about the next meeting.

Very good. Just wanted to make sure.

In case you didn't already know this, Michigan mappers have been meeting each month. See the WIki for information. osm.wiki/Michigan#Community

If it is not there, yet, maybe the use of the "planned:" or "proposed:" namespaces would be appropriate here.

A few weeks ago, I rode the B2B and did not see this trail branching off. Is it there and I just missed it?

Have a look at these bicycling focused renders:
* changeset/121057334#map=17/42.90788/-85.64139&layers=Y
* changeset/121057334#map=17/42.90788/-85.64273&layers=C
Why did that nice trail stop? Did Wyoming Township not have the same vision?

During my visit, last fall, I took Mapillary photos of the northwestern section of that trail, but haven't had time to do similiar for it.

Thanks. I just deleted it. It was a police camera, recently moved somewhere else.

Looks like my accidentally labeling it as a "speed" camera might have been caused, in part, by my use of OsmAnd as a mobile editor, before there was Vespucci.

121062548 over 3 years ago

Thanks. Good catch, on both accounts.

In Vespucci, I did download a large enough area to catch that the entire building had been labeled as Schuler. And having been a customer of theirs since their start, I should know better than to make them plural.

By the way, I do not believe that Schuler occupies that entire building footprint. The southern end has several other tenants. I am presently uploading the Mapillary imagery that I captured, during my visit today. Maybe it could be used to find the extent of the Schuler and add the other tenants.

Great to see that this area has someone on OSM watch. It is nice to meet you.

Yes. I did mean to remove "motor_vehicle=no". It is redundant when "path" implies non-motorized and "designated" excludes all other uses.

See the Wiki for path.
highway=path

This is also on the Michigan Wiki page, which has common mapping schemes used in our area. Note the Community section has meeting details updated each month If ever you find the time, we would love it if you could join us.

I see you have been moving roadways to match the imagery. It may be, that it is the imagery that is off. Take a look at the Wiki page about imagery offsets. osm.wiki/Using_Imagery

I believe the initial tags were correct. Have a look at the Michigan Wiki for how to tag for paddlecraft.
osm.wiki/Michigan#Water.3B_Lakes.2C_Rivers.2C_Streams.2C_Creeks.2C_Drains

Also, name tags should only be given to things/places that have a name.

Thank you for correcting this and for all your hard work in the area.

On the topic of marking a way as under construction, it is preferred to use a conditional access tag with an end date. There is a note on how to do this on the Michigan Wiki page. osm.wiki/Michigan#Ways_Under_Construction

Also on the Michigan Wiki page is an invitation to join our monthly get togethers. It would be great to meet you.

I only had the time to correct the driveways leading to Home Depot.

72123631 about 4 years ago

Wanted to let you know that marking driveways as "access=private" is breaking routing. I've fixed the drives leading to Home Depot, but do not have time to fix others.

I learned about the problem from a friend who's car in full-self driving mode was taking weird paths to get there.

Is this concrete pathway (which is currently closed for construction) really part of the Lansing River Trail Relation?

111788791 about 4 years ago

No problem. We are all in this together.

Have a look at the Michigan wiki, where we have listed common tagging schemes.

Also, take a look at the Events section. We are meeting at the centers of the Michigan tomorrow.

As the crosswalks are tagged as highway=footway, they will also need
the access tag bicycle=yes, to route from road to the concrete path we call a sidewalk in Michigan.

111834072 about 4 years ago

I changed it to shop=piercing, now there are 101. Best to shoot for accuracy than to tag for the renderer. Another option would be shop=jewelry.

I just drove through that area and the Grand Trunk Western railway is long gone, where the goal of OpenStreetMap to accurately represent current ground truth.

I think a more appropriate place for this edit would be the Open Historical Map.

From the areal imagery, that railway looks long gone in most areas, where the goal of OpenStreetMap to accurately represent the current ground truth.

I think a more appropriate place for this edit would be the Open Historical Map.
