This may have been better fixed by making the service road one way, thus making turn restrictions unnecessary. I am not out this way often but I will try to survey to confirm it's one way if I am.

That tool is nice in some ways but it too has its shortcomings, such as making the left pane take up half the browser window, and I am not able to mouse over a bounding box or changed item to see which changeset it goes to. The first time I used it, I managed to get it to freeze the browser tab within two minutes. It's also another address to remember/bookmark that doesn't start with openstreetmap.org. It's still no excuse for editors being sloppy with changeset bounding box areas as a lot of people will still need to use OSM's own history function.

These should have been in separate changesets. The bounding box for this changeset stretches over greater Houston, TX, and several other states besides Oklahoma and Florida, making it more difficult to see local edits.

I have no issue with you correcting spelling errors. I do have an issue with you lumping changes across the entire planet into one changeset, giving a huge middle finger to accepted practice on OSM in the process. Overpass Turbo is slower and uses more computing power best used for other queries that can't be done using the history button.

There is absolutely no reason a changeset bounding box should stretch across large portions of six continents. I see this when I browse changesets in and around Houston, TX, US, and it just gets in the way.

Looks good to me.

Hi, and welcome to OpenStreetMap!

This looks like a great first edit so far, congratulations.

I have been mapping the Houston area for the past few years; feel free to drop me a line if you have questions, particularly those specific to the local area.

Hi, and welcome to OpenStreetMap!

It does help us out a lot if you add more meaningful comments your changesets. Example: "Add details in Spotts Park" or "Label basketball court"

There are actually specific tags used for basketball courts, which I have changed this to in a recent edit. iD has a preset for basketball courts which you can use (as does JOSM if you ever try it).

I have mapped the Houston area extensively over the last few years and can answer most other questions you might have.

These do get in the way a little bit when I'm looking at just the Houston area (in my case) trying to see what's been changed.

The opening_hours tag is *not* a freeform human-readable tag; there is a syntax defined for it that software using the data is relying on. These are entries that could not be fixed by JOSM's validator, that I also could not fix. I fixed what I could by hand.

This looks more like you added a service road and parking lot. Are you sure you're not just re-using the same changeset comment no matter what you change?

70481202 over 6 years ago

Even this could have been commented as "Added surface".

70587279 over 6 years ago

Instead of "update", a more helpful changeset comment would have been "Add building, footpaths, service road at Bayou Bend".

70587468 over 6 years ago

Instead of "update", you could have commented this "Added footways and fountain near Bayou Bend".

How did you manage to get this changeset's bounding box to include the US?

70526939 over 6 years ago

Please don't glue landuse ways to roads. (The way representing a road is the centerline of that roadway, not the edge.)

Please consider writing more descriptive changeset comments so we can tell what you actually changed: osm.wiki/Good_changeset_comments
