Smardale Gill Viaduct is currently closed to pedestrians due to unsafe railings. The footpath across the viaduct is blocked at each end by locked gates and warning signs.
The diversion route is the permitted path on the SE side of Scandal Beck between Smardale Bridge and the NE side of the viaduct.
It looks like this could be closed for a long time, so it may require re-tagging as NO ACCESS for the time being.
