I’ve made a start at mapping the shops in Glastonbury - the result of which is that Glasto now has three quarters of all the places tagged with https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:shop=esoteric in the UK.

Some of these could be https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:shop=herbalist or https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:shop=jewellery; others may be better tagged as https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Tag:shop=gift (although that implies most purchases are for other people, which I’m not sure is the case here). There are some that offer alternative medicine or services such as tarot readings. But many of them offer such a mix of items and services that “esoteric” seems the only proper description.

Spent Sunday going around many of the new housing estates around Congleton to survey roads, paths and house addresses. By my very rough count there have been over 3000 houses built or planned in Congleton since 2010 - this Overpass query shows the extent: https://overpass-turbo.eu/s/1pPW

Things I’ve done recently:

• Renamed a couple of new roads in Congleton - the new “Back Lane” is now Somerford Lane, and what was labelled “Viking Way” is actually Barn Road all the way to the bypass, confirmed by a new road sign at the north end (Viking Way is actually just the short road leading to the Airbags plant)
• Surveyed some of the shops in the town centre to see what has changed in the last year
• Named a couple of localities, namely West Heath, Mossley and Hightown - I’m not entirely clear where they should be placed but they’re on the map at least
• Extended the Mersey Valley Timberland Trail between Runcorn and Warrington - this was partially mapped as two separate relations which I have merged

A short section through the Albion Locks housing estate needs surveying, as the development may have moved the footpaths. Also the paths through Brereton Heath nature reserve are lacking - from what I remember, the trees make GPS tracking difficult and many of the paths are no more than dirt tracks, but this is worth a visit.
