Yo, my name is Colton. Bad mapping is my least favorite thing. My goal is to make Lexington, KY and surrounding area the best mapped region on OSM.
I want great maps for all!
I am not very professionally experienced in map making but I have connections with those in the KYTC, civic employees, and cartographers. I am a Geography major at UKy with a focus in urban planning. My main interests are getting as many possible “Service Roads” and non-official roads to be mapped as these are an important part that I have noticed are missing from many maps. But these are often the most difficult areas to navigate. Second I believe that all public spaces should be mapped in detail. Third major thing that OSM is missing that gives it a disadvantage for the GPS navigation market is that most buildings and their respective addresses are not inputted into OSM. Lastly my goal is to map sidewalks and marked/unmarked/”convenience” street crossings. Lexington citizens and Lexington Tourists should be able to navigate our city with great detail, by car, by foot, by bike, and by bus.
