about 1 month ago | For regular merchants/business in a seperate building I agree and try to fill with what I can find out, but osm.wiki/Addresses says there's no need to addresses when building has one and it's usually like that with malls
about 1 month ago | Hey, Those are all carousels inside shopping malls. Do you really think addresses are necessary there?
about 2 months ago | Thanks, fixed

almost 2 years ago | Hey beatnickgr, thanks for this comment. With btcmap.org we were trying to verify over 7000 merchants on OSM with legacy tags. I always first tried to find any trace of bitcoin on their websites, If there's not, contact them by email/facebook/twitter/instagram. Since the task was enormous and after a short while we realised 90% of those places do not accept anymore, I decided to delete them first and then If I get a confirmation that they do, bring back the tag. Most of the time merchants didn't answer the messages sent, and If they did, it was usually negative. I can't tell you now which method it was with the three merchants you tagged, but I always tried to do this. This method is not perfect and was susceptible to mistakes, which this clearly is, as crypto is mentioned on their website. I am sorry to delete your work here. I will happily revert those back If you want. I definately do not want merchans that accept bitcoin do not be on OSM and btcmap.org But the good thing now is that all of the new tags pretty much well verified, with very little room for mistakes. So before we had over 7k places with bitcoin payments, from which maybe maximum 10% really accepted bitcoin. Now we have about 10k places tagged and I am sure more than 95% of those are truly accepting it At btcmap.org there's a push for local communities to really maintain and verify their local merchants (see https://btcmap.org/communities/map#2/5.26601/0.17578), so this kind of mistakes are getting minmalised I think Once again sorry and let me know If you want to tag them again or should I do it
over 2 years ago | Sorry, this description is not fully correct. I delete the legacy tag and try to find a contact to the owners (website, facebook, emails). If I find it, and they confirm bitcoin acceptence, I re-add it with new tags. If I do not verify any other info

over 2 years ago | Hello, payment=bitcoin tag is a legacy tag and should not be used. Instead, currency:XBT=yes should be used to indicate accepting bitocin.
almost 3 years ago | Thanks, will fix it
| 133203756 | almost 3 years ago | payment:bitcoin is deprecated. For bitcoin it is recommended to use
|
almost 3 years ago | There is however for cryptocurrencies, which I was editing osm.wiki/Cryptocurrency What's the point of online payment tag placed on a map? Those usually are offices of the business where you cannot pay or receive any service. This may lead users using maps such as btcmap.org going there and not being able to pay, which undermines the whole idea of a map
almost 3 years ago | Yes but this is an online service, so payment tag should not be used. It is reserved for payments at the physical palce
almost 3 years ago | Hello, thanks for comment. I actually do this but only places where you can pay at the place. I contact merchants to verify. This seems to be an office of an online one and those shouldn't use payment tag
almost 3 years ago | You're right, although it should be currency:XBT=no as payment:bitcoin is deprecated. Now I checked their website and it seems they moved to 55 Strand, London which seems to confirm that there isn't anything london theatre related at this address.
about 3 years ago | Thanks, I hope we can all find a reasonable solution that will fit OSM standards and bitcoin community. I will pass your comment to BTCMap contributors
about 3 years ago | Hey Ivan, thank you for pointing that out. Seems like I've been using it wrongly. I was always verifying payment info either by contacting the merchant or confirming it on their website, but as you pointed out - I am not visiting them in person. Reading the wiki, seems like check_date:payment:YYY-MM-DD would be a correct way to do this, am I correct? I know BTCMap wiki guidance is going to be updated (probably within 24h) and as far as I know it should be now fully correct to OSM standards. I will withhold tagging until this will be resolved and clear and later update my contributions to correct way of tagging
about 3 years ago | Thanks, I am sure they do not accept it, I added it by mistake
about 3 years ago | Thanks, I am still learning, but want to do it the proper way, I will be more careful!
about 3 years ago | I always look for confirmation. I contact the merchants by email or facebook If I don't see any information about the bitcoin acceptance on their website/socials.
