It's correctly tagged as highway=service + service=driveway + access=private, as it was the first time you deleted it. It was then re-added without access=private tag missing, because it is visible on aerial and street side imagery (and not just that provided by Bing). It is in any case unlikely that people using OpenStreetMap-based tools would be directed into a dead-end road even without appropriate access tags.

Your access road is shown on some current Ordnance Survey maps as a normal part of Strawberry Hill Road (same width, street name labelled), which may be more likely as a cause of people believing it to be a public highway.

It is also included in OS Open USRN (Unique Street Reference Number) with the same Designated Street Name ref. 22403854 as the main part of Strawberry Hill Road.

In the OS Open Names product, the Named Road point for Strawberry Hill Road (ref. osgb4000000030496469) is located on your access road, rather than on the main part of the road as I would expect.

I suggest that you contact Ordnance Survey for an explanation of why this is the case. The highways department of LB Richmond upon Thames and your ward councillors may also be able to help.

Welcome to OpenStreetMap. Please read the following:

Has this now reopened? The ES article suggests that the closure lasted less than 3 weeks. If there have been no further changes, foot=permissive + bicycle=permissive would probably be appropriate unless there are further time-dependent restrictions.

In that case, you could add access=private + sport=volleyball

161210649 12 months ago

What sport is played here, if not tennis?

161205857 12 months ago

That's great, thanks!

Rather than adding a bicycle=no access tag, it would be better to split the footway and map the stairs. Adding bicycle=no to highway=footway may have no effect, as that is the default.

Is it just the one set of stairs, where the path kinks to the NW of the end of Sunmead Road?

Welcome to OpenStreetMap and thanks for adding this.

In order for data consumers to understand what you have added, you need a "top level" tag, which in this case may be office=company. The documentation linked below should help you, but please feel free to ask if you need any help.

office=*

Then I suggest that you update the wiki page for private=* to reflect that. Meanwhile, private=residents is still wrong for these streets. Streets which are, incidentally, less than 1km from y home.

This was also discussed on OSM Community without reaching any definite conclusion, perhaps continue there?

That's a resident of the CPZ, not of the street. Other permits are available and on the council's website.

Whatever the condition is, it certainly isn't the private=residents which you have used. I have no idea what private=permit is supposed to mean, as it isn't documented on the wiki page for private=*.

This also doesn't cover loading/unloading (delivery in OSM access terms), as it varies between CPZs and needs to be checked against the various traffic orders. I haven't yet captured that either, as I need to add parking:*:zone tags.

160986267 12 months ago

No, you'll get a permit by filling in a web form, e.g.

Why do you believe the section of driveway between The Grange's lift gate and Chobham Road is access=private? It may be ownership=private, but I'm pretty sure that, on the several times a week I walk past it, that there is no signage or physical access restriction to support this.

Maybe discuss it with a local who actually understands how parking permits work around here first, or at least have the basic courtesy to discuss it?

From the wiki for access=permit:
"Open only to people who have obtained a permit granting them access, but permit is ordinarily granted. If permit is hard to obtain, then it is typically access=private."

In most London boroughs, residents are given an allocation of visitor permits. A permit is therefore very easy to obtain on request.

Welcome to OpenStreetMap.

Unfortunately, your edit dragged the middle of Albury Road across Bridge Road and deleted a traffic calming feature. I have reverted this.

What were you trying to do and can I help?

Are the two crossings near the Westgate/Sherborne Road mini-roundabout parallel zebra and cycle crossings? The crossing_ref=parrelle looks like it may be a typo for parallel, but the Bing aerial and street side imagery is out of date.

Did you think that vandalising Heathrow Airport would the most effective way to spam search engines and promote your business?

In which case, it would make more sense to move Majestic's tags to a separate node, remove all the business-specific tags from the building and add addr:housename=The Highlands House to it.

152881719 12 months ago

Unfortunately, your edit effectively deleted Majestic by removing important tags like shop=alcohol and the brand tags. I have reinstated these.

Also, with regard to the the psychotherapist located within the same building, adding it as a separate node is sufficient. You do not also need to rename Majestic or combine their names. See osm.wiki/One_feature,_one_OSM_element

No problem. You're not the first person to have been caught out by this and you won't be the last, so it's something which I periodically check.
