almost 3 years ago | Thank you for catching this. It looks like it was added by BogDan_Olegovich in changeset/57300396 I would assume that something like this is simply a typo. The actual surface looks like asphalt to me.
| 132827453 | almost 3 years ago | Hi,
The official_name tag in way/414033713/history looks more like an operator name? official_name=* would be the full official name of the actual school. What kind of clothes does node/5529666651/history sell? That's clearly not a clothes shop. Same goes for node/5529666663/history (which looks like it might not even still be in business - their website redirects to someone else and the sign appears painted over in bing streetside) Your other edits look fine, but please be more careful and don't just automatically accept every suggestion the validator gives you. |
almost 3 years ago | Hi. You're deleting the building=* tag from buildings here. I don't know if it's caused by an error in your software or something else, but it shouldn't be happening.
almost 3 years ago | "highway=pedestrian" combined with "area=yes" is the normal way to tag a pedestrian plaza; it does not mean that the way is a road. It means that the way is a large open pedestrian area, like a plaza. By removing the tag you've essentially just removed the plaza here. Please have a look around the map to see how things are typically mapped, and take a look at highway=pedestrian#Squares_and_plazas

almost 3 years ago | Hi, Please note that California cuisine and Californian cuisine are not quite the same thing ( node/314115443/history for example). "California cuisine" a specific thing, while I guess "Californian cuisine" would just be whatever Californian's eat? Also, "Mongolian Barbecue" ( eg: node/3429340744/history ) is not actually related to Mongolian cuisine at all; it's its own thing. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mongolian_barbecue . I suspect that you might also get some pushback on the idea that "mexican_american" is exactly the same thing as "mexican;american", or that "korean_bbq" should be changed to "korean;barbecue".
almost 3 years ago | Fyi I passed by here today and way/24221450 isn't actually a Wells Fargo. It's always a good idea to verify notes left by others.
about 3 years ago | To get an idea of how unreliable these public records are take a look at the City of Berkeley's creek data and compare it to the county's: https://data.cityofberkeley.info/browse?q=creek&sortBy=relevance I wouldn't really consider either of these datasets reliable enough to import into osm to be honest.
about 3 years ago | Hi, you deleted a big chunk of Capistrano/Middle Creek here. I have personally surveyed most of this (I live nearby, and have done work on a couple of portions of these creeks as part of my job.) We had to send a camera down into the culvert to figure out where part of the Middle Creek culvert was in Albany because the public records were unreliable. It looks like you're copying these from the Alameda County Flood Control District data. The county data is useful but not always accurate - most of the creek culverts were built in the 1800-early 1900s by private landowners and developers who didn't always keep records, so there aren't currently any complete/reliable maps of the current creek networks. The county data also sometimes conflates ordinary storm drains under the street with actual named creeks.
about 3 years ago | Hi, I'm wondering where you got the name "Behrens Way" from? As far as I can tell this is just part of Spokane Ave. south of the county line and Behrens Ave. north of it.
about 3 years ago | Hi, do you know anything more about this place? Dubbelju closed and was replaced by a rocket engine company, but that company didn't stick around for very long and this location is filled with motorcycles again. The signage for Dubbelju is still up alongside the signs for a motorcycle repair business (Moto Lucia) and I can't tell if it's re-opened or not.
about 3 years ago | Unfortunately I had to revert this changeset; please don't add nonsense to the map. Thank you.
about 3 years ago | No it isn't. You also removed the place=neighborhood tag from the neighborhood name here. I have reverted this changeset; please only map things that actually exist.
about 3 years ago | Hi, welcome to OSM! Fyi, Little Gem is already mapped here, in the correct location: node/6448583485
| 128583826 | about 3 years ago | Hi, Please take a look at:
the branch name added for node/4957729632/history the name change to node/6582417968/history the small changes to the shapes of these two hopscotch courts: way/1106905400/history way/1106905401/history Please keep in mind that the validator is meant to be a helpful tool to make tagging things easier and to find *potential* issues; the changes it suggests are not necessarily errors and can inadvertently introduce new errors if not used carefully. In particular it seems to have some false-positives when detecting regional/international brand names. If you're not sure or don't care about some random thing it flags that you didn't edit it's usually ok to ignore it. |
about 3 years ago | node/150963254/history appears to be a valid place name.
about 3 years ago | Hi, welcome to OSM! In this changeset you removed the office=* tag from the old library building on Solano and changed it to building=school. Can you explain why? According to the sign out front it's currently being used as the district's enrollment office. The building was originally the Albany public library, then was leased to the YMCA for it's Kids' Club program. AFAIK it has never actually been used as a school.
about 3 years ago | Hi, I'm wondering what the source you're using for these maxspeeds is? I tried looking for a reliable source for the speeds a while ago and couldn't find anything useful. Some of the ones you added here don't look right (like through stations, where it should be closer to 30-something mph). You added the role "forward' in a few route relations which is not correct. Please see: route=subway and osm.wiki/Bay_Area_Rapid_Transit#Tagging_Conventions . All the BART routes are basically up-to-date at the moment. Also, you seem to have somehow accidentally copied the note "Drawn from Bing imagery when tunnel was an open trench." all over the place in this changeset and the other one.
about 3 years ago | board_type=notice would be for one of those boards where people can post event flyers, help-wanted ads, missing cat posters, and other things like that.
about 3 years ago | Hi, I had added area=yes because this cage is a three-dimensional object, not a simple linear fence. It extends over the top of home plate.
