Changeset When Comment

There seem to be these two similar methods to tag footways that are next to the road:
footway=sidewalk
and sidewalk=*

footway=sidewalk

sidewalk=*

I think the better method would be the sidewalk=left|right|both method.

The wiki says
"Use footway=sidewalk along with highway=footway to tag sidewalks" so this would usually be used when seperate footway are mapped I think, but wiki also says "footway=sidewalk is also sometimes used with other highway=* values" so is a bit confusing

...and they can also be mapped separately as footways.

Hi
you appear to have changed South Road unnecessarily based on an out of date cached view of the map.
@awamartin corrected South Road to add footway=sidewalk as he had previously incorrectly added foot=yes.
You appear to have changed it back to the incorrect tagging.
I think it is best if I revert your changeset so it goes back to the correct tagging.
The Tor browser is often a good one to use to check for the latest standard layer of the osm.org map version as the secure networks are unlikely to have as much cache as common browsers.

Hi
There are two poi for the same dental practice. Can you decide which one is correct.

This now seems ok.
I added sport =shooting + shooting=clay_target
but I notice sport=shooting
suggests clay_pidgeon but I think clay_target is better and used by the Australian association https://www.claytarget.com.au/

no response, I have adjusted the building and business tagging.

Hi
Has this building only one level or five as previously tagged?

114868728 about 4 years ago

I see you have fixed this now and good for pedestrian navigation. Thanks.

Hi
You seem to have tagged South Road as suitable for walking on.
I expect you meant to add something to do with sidewalks instead for people to walk on.
I haven’t mapped any sidewalks so am not familiar but I assume you probably need to add highway=footway plus footway=sidewalk to South Road but I may be wrong so please read the documentation or do a search for footway=sidewalk in osm.org to see how they are normally tagged.
highway=footway
footway=sidewalk

Hi
the military tags are not appropriate for a local gun club unless it is operated by and for the military forces.
military=*
An internet search for the following should help with ideas...

Hi Leo
I notice you have been splitting roads on council boundaries.
If you have to do this for an extensive road network for your project you might like to consider doing it using Qgis by using a layer containing the council boundary polygons to split the lines in a road layer. I’ll leave it to you to search the method if interested. If you only need to do a limited number of roads it may be better to proceed as you are currently. This is just a suggestion so feel free to proceed as you feel suits best your requirements.

Hi
If the construction of these roads is complete, you can delete the “construction=residential” tag

The usual progression is ...
highway=construction + construction=residential
to
highway=residential + tags for surface like asphalt, speed limit, etc

Hi
I adjusted and added more tags to your edit and mapped the building remotely by satellite imagery. Tomorrow I will map a few more of the nearby buildings. Can you check if the shop is located correctly in the building footprint.
Also the side street needs a name if you are able help with that.

Would be good to map the treed areas as polygons by a local mapper.

114639044 about 4 years ago

I have changed my mind....
the few trees that were mapped and many others in the area remain un-mapped may be reasonable reason to delete them as they don't give a reasonable picture of the natural area.
My decision not well considered.

114639044 about 4 years ago

Please don't remove other mappers edits. Just because you think they are just clutter, is no reason to delete them.
It would be polite to ask the previous mapper. Deletions are normally reserved for incorrect data.

Hi
several of the sites you added appear to be already marked as rock outcrops.
Belfry Rock appears correct but others may be duplicate entries, but I wasn’t there.

Hi
I notice that the White Rock - Spring Mountain Conservation Estate boundary appears a bit different between a recent City of Ipswich
White Rock-Spring Mountain
Conservation Estate Master Plan and what is in OSM and it does not distinguish the White Rock Conservation Park.
I was unable to find the boundary in the original source given when it was first entered in osm from http://qldspatial.information.qld.gov.au/catalogue/ in 2016.
I have contacted the Ipswich City Council for a gis boundary and awaiting a reply.

I am exceptionally well impressed by your prompt reply and very excellent editing. 😀

114516898 about 4 years ago

Do you expect you may be able to fix this in the next week?

114516898 about 4 years ago

Hi
building=house is a tag used on the building footprint of the house and not the block of land.
You need to map the building outline accurately (zoom in very close and also use the tool for squaring the corners as appropriate) and attach the tags to that and if you wish to mark the property boundaries it is customary to do this by mapping the fences and tag with barrier=fence.
