Hi Alt7706, thanks for your reply and questions!

You're absolutely welcome to contribute wherever you travel — that's one of the great things about OpenStreetMap! The suggestion to keep changesets local isn't meant to limit contributions, but to help with a few practical things:

1. Easier Review and Collaboration
When a changeset covers many countries or distant regions, it's hard for other mappers or local communities to review what was changed in their area. Keeping edits geographically grouped makes it easier for others to verify and improve the map.

2. Avoiding Conflicts
A "conflict" can happen if multiple people edit the same area at the same time. It’s rare, but it becomes harder to manage if someone’s changeset spans multiple regions. Smaller, local changesets reduce the risk of overlapping or accidentally undoing others’ edits.

3. Data Clarity
When a changeset covers a wide area, it's harder to understand its purpose or intent. Reviewers might wonder: was this change about roads in Germany, a POI in Thailand, or a typo fix in Peru? Grouped, local changesets help keep edits meaningful and clear.

To be clear: you're not doing anything wrong by contributing in many countries! It's just a recommendation to save edits more frequently and keep each changeset focused on one area at a time. This makes the project smoother for everyone involved.

Happy mapping and thanks again for contributing to OSM!

Interesting, Every Door must have set it up that way automatically back then; at least, it wasn't intentional on my part. Here is a “stamp spot.” This is common in hiking areas; it's usually a small wooden box with a stamp pad for signing your hiking logbook.
When I look it up on the wiki, I come here: checkpoint=*

I will update it!

Hi and thank you for your contribution!

Please note for the future: changesets should be local.

To avoid conflicts and as a courtesy to reviewers, it is recommended to:
• combine changes in a small geographical area (within a city, district or province)
• keep changes within the same country
• upload/save changes before moving on to map in a different area

Why? Have a look at the section
"Geographical size of changesets" on this wiki page:
osm.wiki/Changeset#Geographical_size_of_changesets

Thanks for considering, have a nice day and happy mapping!

„charge=5 EUR/day”).
