Changeset When Comment

Hi,

The wiki describes a place=square as "a town square or village square [...], generally of architectural significance"

I have doubts, this is the case here. What do you think?

Ah great! I've seen this mapped wrong many times, so I have become suspicious.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Hi,

You've mapped footway and cycleway separately, but there is no physical barrier between them.

However, when things are not physically separated, we map them as only one way in OSM.

Great, thanks for the quick reply!

Hi,
has this cycle lane been added recently? It doesn't show up on aerial imagery.

Thanks! In cases like this, some mappers (including myself) simply comment the changeset with "Alignment" or similarly.

When we make "real" changes, it's good to comment it in a way such that others have a chance to understand what's being done. This page gives a rough guide:

Happy mapping!

Hi,

Please try to be more specific in your changeset comments, so other mappers can understand your intentions.
What exactly has been fixed?

Hi mate,

Thanks for you joining OSM.

We don't map individual lanes of roads if they are not physically separated. I'll therefore revert your edits.

See osm.wiki/Highways#Carriageways

Hi,

Welcome to Openstreetmap. Note that we do not map steps as areas (closed ways).
highway=steps

Happy mapping!

Hi,
You forgot to set the construction=tertiary tag. This led to the next mappers setting the road type incorrectly after the road had reopened. They set it to highway=residential, whereas highway=tertriary would have been correct.

Please set the construction=* key when you tag a road as under construction. You can find documentation on how to do this here:
highway=construction?uselang=en

Happy mapping!

Ok, I've reverted my change.

Hello and a belated welcome to openstreetmap!

It's nice towards other mappers if you comment your changesets in a way that others can understand what you are doing.

No response; I hence moved name -> description.

Hey,

I've reverted this edit.

If there is a single-carriageway in reality, then we map it as such in OSM.
osm.wiki/Dual_carriageway

If access varies by direction, then we use directional keys (like motor_vehicle:forward).
osm.wiki/Forward_%26_backward,_left_%26_right

A lot of public transport routes go along here. When we make changes to the map, we need to be sure not to break these routes. To this end, we use appropriate access keys like psv=yes.
osm.wiki/Public_service_vehicles

OSM is made for everybody and people use it in many many different ways. When we make edits to the map, we can't tune/hack it to our personal specific needs in a way that renders it unusable to others.

Reverted. Use smoothness=* instead.

158275927 about 1 year ago

Hi, I've reverted your edited as access=no seems wrong to me. I believe that:
- Pedestrians and cyclists can pass here
- Motor vehicles of Lek employees can also pass.

I hence added lift gates with a motor_vehicle=private tag

159597158 about 1 year ago

Hello,
When you tag roads as under construction, please remember to add the construction=* tag.

For example, on the section of Verovoška ulica that you've tagged as under construction, there should be a construction=tertiary tag.

129877329 about 1 year ago

Sorry for that. It's not always easy to get every driveway correct from aerial imagery.

Thanks for correcting it!

144961368 about 1 year ago

Ok thanks.

But this node is not a *network node*, is it? (a bit unfortunate that the terminology is confusing here, but not every OSM node is a lcn node, right?)

Hi,

There are concerns about the verifiability of way/323041450

Do you know if this path still exists?
