Yes, true. Not many farms left in Canberra. Some hobby farms, e.g. these 2. Close to the city for work. Some animals. Private property. Very small "paddocks" 30x40m are usually for horse(s) - see north William Hovell Drive .

75093141 about 6 years ago

Another point. A paddock (meadow) is a closed relation. If the fence is missing or its got holes big enough for a truck to drive through, then it is not a paddock. "closed fencing and gates"=meadow and "unfence area (or gaps)"=grassland. Fenclines are visible in OSM.

75093141 about 6 years ago

Agree. Small, working farms in this area. I am not suggesting one cow. If a grassland is not used for agriculture but a meadow is, what is the difference? I think one cow in the paddock is enough to change the tag. "no cows"=gassland

75093141 about 6 years ago

Yes, it is a paddock. Two small farms, Glenloch and the one beside it. Previously "meadow" for grazing. Grassland implies that there is no agriculture. Both are grass though. Does seeing a cow count?

75093141 about 6 years ago

The Arboretum is a small and well defined area.

75093141 about 6 years ago

What evidence do you have that the relation is correct, or need? The satellite photos provide no information about this. :-)

75054225 about 6 years ago

Relation was in error. Satelite photos are out of date. See Whitlam updates today. Wrong fence lines in Glenoch section. Surveying continues

For 2. LPI NSW basemap has value of peak 139m and cliff height above sea level 100m. Same as previously.

74508398 over 6 years ago

I have walked the area often with GPS.
Cliffs height vary continuously due to the nature of the terrain. Move 10m in either direction and the height is likely to change. Height above sea level or vertical drop? Many cliffs are not exactly vertical either. The real world is a messy place
I try to make a good estimate of the max height of the cliff and stop drawing cliffs when they are so low they see to be threat or no all that steep.
Here is source data for the sections.
1. Cape St George Historic Lighthouse is 67 m abover sea level. It drops pretty much straight in to the sea. I estimated the cliffs here at 50 m.
https://lighthouses.org.au/nsw/cape-st-george-lighthouse/
2. Headland north of Steamer's Beach has a peak about 130m above sea level, but the cliffs are low at about max 100m. There is a magnificent view from Steamer's Beach. Cliff height estimate with a DEM – Digital Elevation Model - LDIR data I think.

correction "area marked Whitlam"

73400263 over 6 years ago

Thanks for the link. There is record of a change here. I did not make any changes to the river. An area "beach" was added adjacent to the river. That may have something to do with it.
In any case there is still the assumption about my intent which is simply incorrect.
Again, be careful of the word "blind".

Thanks for your comment about the life cycle prefix

73399455 over 6 years ago

Valley Track has been there for years. A new pipeline was buit from the water tanks at the top of the hill to Whitlam in the south. For the last 6 months this area of Hawker has been block off behind fences and a detour provided. I expect them to open the track again once the project works is completed.

73332601 over 6 years ago

The ACT Government have called this the Molonglo River Reserve. That is official name. Please check the ACT government website. It is about zoning.
Thanks for the comment about PROPOSED. The cycle prefix would be useful. Similarly in the north there is a large are market "Whitlam". This is the new suburb.

A really interesting case.
A few points here.
1. your comment shows up as posted 6 months ago. But I got the email today. Sorry if I missed it early.
2. The MTB tracks on Mt Stromlo are managed company. They have some arrangement with the ACT government. Stromlo is part of a ACT Government master plan fot he area. The lastest development is a pool in the east corner. Where they want bikes is not my decision.
3. The general policy in the ACT are the formed trails can be ridden by bikes and fire trails are of that type. The trails on Stromlo are of an excellent quality.
4. The trail was originally market MTB=no. I questioned this with a OSM guy why that would be the case. I put it back in the end.
5. I simply dont know why this was done or if it was done for rendering reasons.

73400263 over 6 years ago

The question you should be asking yourself is did I change the river bank. The answer is no. The river banks where not edited.
The term "south bank" is a description of the are where the edits took place.
Becareful with the use of the word "blind" as it contains a number for assumption which you cannot verify.

67513144 almost 7 years ago

A casual examination of fire trails (highway=track) on the east slopes of Mt Stromlo shows the tag “mtb” is rarely used but often the trails are tagged with bike=no. This is mostly likely an addition for routing. Garmin cycle computers, I have been told, love straight paths, which certainly MTB paths are not.

67513144 almost 7 years ago

I welcome this. The ACT territory government has the policy that Mountain bike riding is permitted on formed trails including fire trails and shared use trails. This means that for highway=track that bike=yes unless designated otherwise. Fire trails (highway=track) of Mt Stromlo are permitted for biking however some are set to bike=no around MTB paths, e.g. the track that forms the junction of “Dingo” and “White Gums” MTB paths to the east of this one.
