I found a solid source confirming that this freeway is named the Ted Williams Freeway: Assembly Concurrent Resolution 21, in resolution chapter 24 from the 1993 session of the California state assembly.
See page 1507 of this PDF: https://clerk.assembly.ca.gov/sites/clerk.assembly.ca.gov/files/archive/Statutes/1993/1993_Stats_vol4.pdf#page=1507

Unless you have something official that is more recent, I will change the name back.

The route relation ( relation/12046962 ) already provides a good representation of the historic 101 route.
For the names of roads, we need to match the present-day road signs that people use to navigate. The Pacific Coast Highway name would be appropriate for the old_name tag, but not as the primary name.

Hello,
Is there a reason why you moved the University Town Center station node (5388551999) north? It now looks like it is away from the platforms at a location that is not very helpful.
Thanks

Hello,
I see that you have changed the name of this road to Torrey Pines Highway.
However, all the street signs that I can see in Bing Streetside imagery and that I remember from visiting the area still say "Carmel Valley Road."
Have you surveyed this road and found that the street signs have changed, or do you have another source for the name change?

Thank you for responding.
I will admit that I haven't seen any road signs that refer to this freeway as the Ted Williams Freeway, or any name other than "56."
However, many websites refer to the freeway as the Ted Williams Freeway. That is only a weak justification for putting the name in OpenStreetMap, but I don't understand why we should change the name to something else.

Are there road signs or some other source to show that people are calling this freeway the Torrey Pines Freeway?

That sounds good. Since you are surveying the area, you have more information than me and your mapping decisions should take precedence over mine. I definitely won't object if you delete that section of road again.

I used the Bing aerial imagery, which looks like it has been recently updated, for my recent changes in this area.

I'm glad to hear that you actually visited this location to survey it. I'm limited to aerial imagery for this area.

If the road is closed but still physically there, I would prefer to tag it access=no so that people don't get routed along it, but we can still see it on the map and use it as a reference for navigation.
A [lifecycle prefix](osm.wiki/Lifecycle_prefix) like disused is another option.

If the road has been demolished and replaced with dirt or some other feature, then deleting it is correct.

Hello,

This is a good changeset overall, but I am surprised that you deleted a section of West Trident Avenue. That road is still visible in aerial imagery, including the Bing imagery that appears very new. Have you surveyed this area and found that the road no longer exists?

Thanks

Hello,

I see that you have changed the name of SR 56 from "Ted Williams Freeway" to "Torrey Pines Freeway." Please provide a source establishing that the name of the freeway has changed.

If you do not respond within 7 days, I will be forced to assume that you are not editing in good faith.

Thanks

Hello,

I am concerned that your changes to the names of several major roads in this area, as well as adding the "US 101" ref to roads south of Los Angeles, may not accurately represent the current names and designations of these roads as reflected on road signs and official records.

Please provide a source for these name and ref changes.

We have been through this before with your renaming of Genesee Avenue and North Torrey Pines Road starting in changeset/96193476, which you never justified.

Thanks

I surveyed this trail today. The two signs along the trail that say "no wheeled vehicles are permitted" are still there. Therefore, I have reverted your change to the bicycle access on the trail.
Unless you have a more authoritative source, please do not change it again.

Hello,
I see that you have marked the Fishhead Creek Trail as allowing bicycles. The last time I was there, I saw a sign indicating that bicycles were not allowed.
How can I verify that bicycles are now allowed? In other words, what is your source for this change?
Thanks

Hello,
I see that you have changed the name of this section of road from Genesee Avenue to US 101 (and the name has since been changed to something else). I haven't been able to find anything suggesting that the name has really changed. What is your source for this name change?

This parking lot has permanently closed for the Gateway at Millbrae Station construction, so it no longer contains any roads/aisles. This change does not appear in any available aerial imagery, but I have visited this location to survey it. I will remove those features.

I have not surveyed this area myself, but based on the available sources I believe that East Hughes Access Road is completely closed and unmaintained. The current combination of tags suggests that the road is open. To correct this, I propose to either:
1. Remove highway=unclassified, leaving disused:highway=unclassified
2. Remove disused:highway=unclassified and add access=no

This section of Miramar Street is still under construction. You can see it on the left side of the live stream here: https://www.teleport.io/feed/n2gexldrqxbwahnqfz9l/view?accesskey=flSPyUY6lxjCZxI6mRW3objEyFHidK . I will revert this edit and leave the existing under-construction way.

Gilman Drive has been rerouted for construction for several months. Most of the aerial imagery is out of date. I confirmed by an in-person visit today that the route of Gilman Drive was correct before this change. I will revert the changes to Gilman Drive.

This changeset is responsible for the difference.

The data for these runways have two non-standard properties:

1. The outlines are mapped, which is discouraged: aeroway=runway#How_to_Map

2. Blastpads and displaced thresholds are separate. This was proposed in 2009 at osm.wiki/Talk:Aeroways#Bits_of_runway , but doesn't seem to be accepted.

Anyway, the two properties are independent. To make the lengths consistent, you could remove the separate displaced threshold sections. I haven't seen anything that takes advantage of them.

This is a good set of changes, but it is based on old imagery and some things have changed. Several parking areas around Miramar Street and in nearby areas have been subsumed by construction. The data were correct before your change. I will change these areas back to restore correctness.

This looks like a good change overall. However, Sixth Lane and the intersection of Sixth Lane and Lyman Lane have been rerouted for long-term construction. You can see the current routing in the DigitalGlobe Standard Imagery, or by visiting the location in person. This change reverted them to their previous routes, which are out of date. I will make a change that restores the correct routes.
