Changeset When Comment

Well as I wrote in the changeset's source it is was a gps track from wikiloc.com converted 6 years ago. At that time there wasn't much around with imagery to cross-check the kind of track I estimate. Someone must have joined the single parts of the track since I use to split long ways into chunks of around 100 ±20.nodes

Are you sure way/320211855 is 阿拉善左旗巴彦浩特机场? way/317216080 looks much more like an airport

Halen inanamıyorum! Manyaklar! Oralarda nasıl bir rüzgar esebilir... ;)

Nesim kuzuuum! :) Dağın tepesinde bir havaalanı yapılacak hiç aklım almaz benim! Bu plan nereden çıkıyor? Cyclemap katmanda baktın mı hiç?

Interesting! I've added that info as note as well.

65182652 almost 7 years ago

Thank you very much :D

I've added the Google Translate version for people not capable of reading Russian ;)

65182652 almost 7 years ago

Ok. Didn't know that one uses Russian for name tag in Kazakhstan. Please add that information then on osm.wiki/WikiProject_Kazakhstan so that other mappers learn about this naming theme.

I can remove the cinema tag for you.

Are the name tags like X/S1012 of any use?

Was it only in Qinghai or other province too?

Hi, I see there are many nodes on a railway line which are tagged as "cinema 電影院" - did you mean a sort of "camera", maybe for surveillance ?

just silently fix my naming errors ;) - mainly occuring with county seats I estimate...

What is written on a city limit street sign in Tibet? Only Chinese? If a county like Zêkog has more than 95% Tibetan speaking population I'd really expect multilingual signing. But I've never been in China so I might be wrong. Anyway: this needs then to get documented under osm.wiki/Multilingual_names#China

What about multilingual name tagging convention ?

For zh:曲库乎乡 I use

name=曲库乎乡 ཆུ་ཁོག་
name:zh=曲库乎乡
alt_name=多哇;曲库乎;Duowa;Dowa;Qukuhu;ཆུ་ཁོག
name:bo=ཆུ་ཁོག་
name:en=Chukhok
name:zh_pinyin=qūkùhū xiāng
official_name=曲库乎乡

The only thing left to do is then something like:

For all 乡 镇 in names of place=town nodes of provinces touched by katpatuka:

if name does not include space character then replace all name:zh with name in China

;)

64776211 about 7 years ago

Do you want to say: include the 县 乡 镇 at the end of names of counties, towns and townships in the name tag AND in name:zh tag ? Up to now I've used 县 乡 镇 with name tag but in name:zh without 县 乡 镇. On nodes for cities I also removed the 市 on name tags.

ok ;) I don't know why I could have tagged it that way - I've never been there anyway so feel free to correct all errors I might have made in that region.

changeset/64960249 reverted - please cross-check

Since I can't speak Chinese I do not use or check the name tag for ways in China. I guess I must have retraced a way propagating the name set before by someone else.

Some renderers may use this feature... in #osm chat someone said most US counties have admin_centre and label...

62601372 about 7 years ago

Well, this is beyond my scope of interest and should rather be discussed under osm.wiki/Talk:Relation:boundary#Label_role or a mailinglist. ;)

62601372 about 7 years ago

yes, they are optional but I find them useful. I'd changed the label to place=region for testing and that seems to have worked.
