No road here whatsoever, it's gated at the north end, ends somewhere up from the pin and definitely no connection at the south

This footpath does not connect to the East Cobb Trail (which runs next to Roswell Road). This footpath (south of the East Cobb Trail) is in a fenced-off school playground, with all gates located on on the south side of the playground (i.e., facing the school building). The only way to reach the East Cobb Trail from the playground is to first exit through one of the playground's south gates, then walk to Indian Hills Parkway, and then walk north to meet the East Cobb Trail.
