Sorry, I was not included in these discussion. That is the name of the business, and what people will see on the ground, which is the first priority of OSM mapping. Many businesses change name over the years, and we just adapt the map to suit.

I am working with the council database of bin and recycling locations, which links bins to addresses. I wanted to try and do an import, but first wanted to have some on the ground mapping in order to do a comparison onthe datasets

Probably I have just not decided what it is - I guess a pipeline, I'll come back to it. Do you know what it is?

The old G Road has been replaced by a new class. 1 highway, and the old one to a regional highway. This is happening all over the country, you have to be careful with tagging according to old designation as the road system is renewed.

I understand, I have been tagging like in Germany and France, where when they built the expressways, the old national trunk routes were left with the same numbering system, but are often not developed, so are no longer the backbone of the national network, nor necessarily funded by central government. IN the UK it is different - we have a huge centrally funded network or conventional roads. IN china many of the original national trunk network has not been modernised, but a new parallel expressway built. Provincial governments build their own more modern road systems as well. My rule has always been - is this a road that one would still take to drive between provinces.

Should we label all the all G roads as part of the trunk network, even if they run alongside a much newer more important 'primary' route?
Maybe there should be an automatic changing of all G roads to 'trunk' tagging - there must be 10s of thousands, or does it need checking on the ground to see which ones are still operating as trunk routes, and which have been left undeveloped.

Almost none of the old G roads in China are tagged "trunk" - trunk is used for other things. Almost all the old network is replaced by the new G Expressways.

I just checked, since it is an old trunk road, almost the entire road is 'primary'. the 'Trunk' tag is used mainly for elevated roads in cities, and a few of the old 'G' network that have been upgraded.

Please let me know what the issue is. I am aligning tagging across the entire country - trying to fix regional and local inconstistances, and tagging according things that have no longer exist (e.g. old 'trunk' roads from the 1980s)

Not clear to me - though if I go there to visit, i see a huge beach - great for kite flying etc. Beach is usually tagged down to the spring low water mark.

Err, because everything on the school site is being changed. When we know what is new there, we can put in the new services roads.

Many thousands of my edits are improving accuracy using new map date, but sometimes I am doing rougher first iterations, especially when filing large blank areas.
