Changeset When Comment

I don't know for certain, but I at least haven't seen anything change between being added to the map and road construction finishing

I thought that was weird too, but that's how the sign at the intersection of Clement and Mountain View that's visible on Streetside spells it, and Boise's open data map agrees with it 🤷‍♀️

Ah, looks like that wouldn't be visible from the street level imagery I referenced. Definitely feel free to update it here

Just went back and checked the picture I'd taken for reference for it and it doesn't appear to be an LFL one (no plaque or anything)

Good catch, fixed it!

I just double-checked the reference pictures I took of the signage and, yep, it is apparently. Definitely some weird inconsistent naming going on in this area

Huh, that would make way more sense than Delehaye, but that's what the road signs had last time I was there in March. I wonder why they changed it

122048977 over 3 years ago

Oh, yep you're right, that's a subtle distinction. I've reverted that

I had originally had these as paths with designated bicycle access since ITD describes them as "multi-use pathways" and there are some (though not extensive) facilities for bikes along the route. I'm not sure what tagging best describes this kind of pathway, but these (and most other 8 or 10' wide pathways I've encountered) at least officially are built to include bicycle use.

Ah, yeah I'd never checked whether this was residential or not. I've just now updated them to residential roads

Yeah, this just seems like such a needlessly hostile design

This changeset should have been titled something like "Adding Stoddard Pathway extension" but I think I walked away and after I came back I forgot I hadn't uploaded that yet before noticing the road segment classification

Oooh, new Bing!

117500721 almost 4 years ago

Yep, that looks right! Their site even uses Mapbox for their embedded map, nice

It's hard trying to date this imagery too. Comparing with some survey pictures I took, some areas are Aug/Sept 2021 (Delano subdivision road construction started but not paved yet, Esri's older here) but others are pre-Dec 2020 (Three Corners Ranch subdivision has no house construction yet, Esri's newer here), and yet they all look visually the same? They're only about a mile apart and I can't find where the seam is. It's confusing.

Yep, that's Middleton

Good catch, thanks!

Weird, I wonder how that sign ended up like that then. I do think I prefer to have it the same as on the ground, even if it wasn't supposed to be like that, but I wouldn't be entirely opposed to having the predirectional added in OSM without it being on the sign since the sign might get fixed eventually

116570324 almost 4 years ago

I was somewhat confused when I went by too, but it's got a green street sign that just says "Gem Prep St". I'm assuming it's either that's just what got approved somehow, or someone left off the predirectional when making the sign. Maybe it gets fixed when the neighborhood that'll connect to it finishes its roads, but for now that's what's on the ground 🤷‍♀️

Ah! Thanks for the reminder, I guess iD doesn't get rid of that when you select "residential road" then
