Yeah, you're probably right. I've changed these and a few others I added: changeset/148705303

Oh, definitely feel free to rearrange the landuse if it makes more sense to include those as part of the park. It looks like I added the landuses before the museum was tagged as such, so I was probably just going off aerial imagery at the time without the benefit of knowing what it's like on the ground. I trust your present-day interpretation of the area from your survey more than my 2 year old armchair mapping

I also believe we should upgrade the existing segment between Chinden and State to trunk once Phase 2 (https://itdprojects.org/projects/sh16design/) is complete. I haven't changed the proposed=motorway tags on the Phase 3 segments Jarrardi added, since I think that's entirely accurate to how the entire highway between I-84 and State ought to be anyway once the entire ID-16 project is done

At least they gave it an acronym we can do fun wordplay with

Whoops, forgot to tag Bing aerial imagery as a source

Woah, new Esri! When did that become available?

Ha, just glad to help out!

I can see what you're going for here, but most routers are designed to work with the central circular road tagged with junction=roundabout. Some routers will use that to give directions such as "Enter the roundabout, and take the 3rd exit," which is only possible if it knows which segments are part of the roundabout itself as opposed to part of the connecting roads.

However, I'd say to not simply revert, since it looks like you've made another important change that very much helps routers: separating the entry and exit ways so they don't meet at a single point. This helps them understand that drivers need to enter the roundabout and then immediately exit, as opposed to just making a slight right turn.

There's some good notes on all sorts of edge cases on the wiki at junction=roundabout but I usually end up referencing other similar ones nearby like way/678262785 unless I come across something particularly weird.

(Though Boise does have its share of weird roundabouts: way/767448730#)

This looks really nice! Great to see Nampa getting this level of detail!

It's from the signage on the top of the building. I added it from a survey, but it's also partially visible from Streetside imagery

Oh, that's exciting! I can't wait to watch it come together

This is also reminding me to check on the status of the proposed bridge to reconnect the Greenbelt where it breaks at E 52nd St in Garden City

135040199 over 2 years ago

Oh, nice! Yeah, there's not really any hard rules on at what point things ought to be added as proposed, the wiki just says "only real plans." Sounds to me like that'd exclude the BOI/SLC Amtrak route that's more of a dream for now, but the Greenbelt here seems pretty safe to include to me. Admittedly I may be somewhat biased since I really want to be able to ride all the way from Lucky Peak Dam to Caldwell

I'm not sure. I'm not going to be able to go out and survey this area anytime soon, so I've got no idea if they haven't changed it on the physical signage yet.

Love to see OSM being on top of construction! I will say though that it generally isn't worth tagging shorter-term construction that'll take less than a few months to finish. Not that it's incorrect, but just since a lot of apps using OSM data can take a month or more to update and shorter closures will (hopefully) be well out of date by then. There's no hard lines on what should or shouldn't be tagged, but the wiki has a few best practices in the opening section of construction=*#. This definitely doesn't apply for *new* construction though, so absolutely keep tagging new things going up with construction=* as soon as they start!

Oh, yeah that'd be more accurate. Updated!

Hey! Apologies for taking a while to get back, but yeah, your crossings look good to me. It's great to see Middleton really taking shape on OSM!

133466196 almost 3 years ago

Oh cool, I didn't know Middleton was moving ahead with a river walk! One neat tip on tagging it since it's under construction right now is to use construction=cycleway and it'll be even more clear to map users (and whoever gets to update it once it opens) what it will be: highway=construction#Values
