almost 8 years ago | Is that car park for The Grey Walls? If so, you could add operator=The Grey Walls to make it clearer who the ‘customers’ are.
almost 8 years ago | OK. I’ve added note/1264507 so we don’t forget about it.
almost 8 years ago | Ah, I suspect some of it is still Manna House. I didn’t know about Manna House before; I’ve been to the pub, and the public part of it certainly doesn’t occupy all of the mapped building, but I didn’t know how far the private part of it extends. If you have surveyed/seen Manna House, do you want to split the building and update the map?
about 8 years ago | Hah, very good. Count me out though; I found it hard enough to work out where the cut-and-cover line of the pipeline was from the satellite imagery when I could see where the aqueduct bridges were!
about 8 years ago | Hah, was this prompted by my Thirlmere aqueduct edit? I wasn’t expecting that. Nice one. :-)
about 8 years ago | Consider tagging these using the Public Transport Schema v2, rather than just v1: public_transport=platform
about 8 years ago | Fixed in changeset/55107351.
about 8 years ago | I was on the fence about the surgery building; it was geometrically simpler to include, but in hindsight probably more incorrect than correct. I’ll remove it. I included the railway corridor to the NW so that there isn’t a gap. An alternative would be to lengthen the railway corridor itself. Again, I was on the fence about this. Maybe I’ll change it, since having the station the same length as the car park to the north kind of suggests that the car park is something to do with the station (which it isn’t).
about 8 years ago | The browser does indeed fill in the last changeset message, but it’s easy enough to take a few seconds to look over the fields above the ‘Upload’ button in iD before pressing the button. You could also, for example, fill in the hashtags and sources fields to provide more information about your changes. We all make mistakes, but we can all also try and find ways of making sure those mistakes don’t happen again. :-)
about 8 years ago | Similarly to changeset #54543256, please make sure that your changeset messages reflect what actually changed; and phone numbers should use the country code and be formatted in three groups.
about 8 years ago | Hi, this looks like a good update, but please make sure that your changeset message reflects what actually changed in the changeset. Adding the phone number and website to a pub isn’t a rural update! Also, note that phone numbers should generally be formatted as `+44 1524 844451` so that consumers of OSM data don’t need to deal with too many different phone number formats. Thanks!
about 8 years ago | (Thanks for these updates!)
about 8 years ago | The footpath link from Sunnyside to the canal is a flight of steps, isn’t it? If so, they should be tagged as such. highway=steps
about 8 years ago | Reverted as changeset: osm.org/edit?changeset=54442513
about 8 years ago | I’ve reverted this in changeset/54456404.
about 8 years ago | Do you know if this new road has street lighting (lit=yes/no), and which side it has pavements on (sidewalk=both/left/right)? Is it tarmac (surface=asphalt)?
about 8 years ago | Nice cleanup. I think the tagging is not consistent with other houses in the Lancaster area though: the convention which seems to be predominant here is to tag the individual areas for each half of a semi as building=house rather than building=semidetached_house. If you were to draw one area for the entire semi (and not split it), that would be tagged as building=semidetached_house. (But that’s not recommended: splitting them is better since then they can have separate numbering and addresses.) building=detached seems to not be used around here; building=house is used instead.
about 8 years ago | No need to duplicate the name as a description.
about 8 years ago | Whoops, thanks for pointing that out. Fixed. I don’t know about the tourist information centre; this was an armchair edit based on e-mailing Herdy for their new address. If I get a chance to wander down to Stramongate I’ll keep an eye out for the tourist information centre, but it won’t be soon.
about 8 years ago | I think these need to be changed to building=house to be consistent with the rest of Lancaster. I’ve always been considering building=semi as only suitable for the outline of the entire building (before it’s split in two). building=semi is not very helpful on that point though, so it’s a matter of local consensus rather than anything else.
