On February 7, 1971 Susan Randall was raped, killed, and thrown off this bridge naked from the waist down. I lived on West Portsmouth Street, so watched them with binoculars as they pulled the stretcher up to the highway bridge. A Robert Breest was convicted of the brutal battery, rape and death. Since then, three peoples DNA were found under her fingernails, not just Breest's. He has long maintained his innocence, or at least that others had been involved in the murder.
