I do, where can I post it?

re way/122747657
Was this one you GPXd on your trip out to Haddon? The circuit of the field along N and then E boundaries isn't consistent with the fingerpost (nor OS map) and when I walked it neither the OSM b'way nor the OS b'way was evident on the ground.

I'm wondering whether to replace the two-sides-of-a-square route with the designated bridleway that I actually walked. Any further info? I can't see your trace on the map, but I'm inexpert (and maybe you didn't upload it, and maybe you only walked the fp marked TBC?)

Ta, have retagged

Hi Robert,

Just checking: are you sure this path should be tagged as designated for cyclists?

way/1291147039

I've had a brief look and I feel I'd dismount to get to the hotel entrance.

But if you know it is, fine.

Cheers,

Hi, you can ignore this: I've found how to go back to the reverted changeset, and I can understand why there was a problem. Thanks. eteb3

Hi, can I ask why you removed the religious landuse here? Does the place not exist at all, or did you think it was better not added as landuse? Thanks. eteb3

Oh yes, NLS! I remember seeing them mentioned on the GB list.

Thank you.

Hi Minh Nguyen

I'm on a bit of a foray to discover how people are using the place_of_worship=musalla tag.

It seems you added one here: node/8262966505

Do you remember why you chose to call the place =musalla rather than =mosque?

My wiki discussion is here:
osm.wiki/Talk:Tag:place_of_worship%3Dmusalla

A collection of use cases here:
osm.wiki/User:Eteb3/ideas#Mosque_vs_musalla_(2024-08-05)

Thoughts welcome! Thanks,

Thanks for all your replies on other changesets.

One more on this one: we have a conflict between the elevation given for the trig point (558) versus the peak (550). Do you know how to settle it? Is there an open source we can use?

PS usernames for the wiki must start with a capital letter, if I recall correctly. So I'm Eteb3 there.

Hello adiatmad,

Certainly don't mind you joining! the more the merrier.

I've started a discussion on the wiki page: osm.wiki/Talk:Tag:place_of_worship%3Dmusalla

I'm trying to work out if the Malay/Indonesian use of =musalla is a local quirk, or something we should generalise internationally.

Would you like to add to the discussion at the wiki page? Especially, a bit more detail on your local knowledge would be very helpful.

Salam EbūJeɛfer

I'm interested in how people are using the 'place_of_worship=musalla' tag.

Can I ask why you decided to change the tag on Mushollah Sunan Bonang from =mosque to =musalla? What do you see as the difference between a masjid and a musalla?

Thank you,

Hi osmlecenc

Hope you're enjoying life off the map!

I see you've edited two mosques here, and tagged the one you added (Sidi Lachen) as place_of_woship=musalla.

I'm interested in how people are using this tag: could you quickly let me know how you decided this should be tagged musalla, rather than 'mosque'?

Thanks!

Salut elfronto,

Merci!

Hi conifermapper,

Thanks for making that clear.

On OS OpenData StreetView a number of what you've marked as paths are actually cutlines in the forest plantation. These aren't intended as paths (I think they're for biodiversity, or fire protection, but not sure). I tried walking some of these in the Mynydd Du forest and they are impassible.

Given how hard going passing through forested land is, I'd argue for being very conservative about where we tag paths on the map. Unless supported by a survey actually walking the route, or a good handful of mutually corroborating GPS traces, I wouldn't support including them. Again (picking up a theme from the other discussion), from a navigational point of view I found it actively unhelpful to have so many paths in OSM.

Even the rights of way and paths marked on the Ordnance Survey 1:25k maps are often impassible now (after many decades of forestation) and I think OSM should aspire to be more accurate than those. So I'm minded to prune out a lot of the paths added on this changeset.

Kind regards,

Hi again conifermapper,

Thanks, that makes sense.

I'd make the case for tagging the upper reaches of this area as scrub, rather than woodland. When I walked it the other day the wood stopped at around the 300m contour. There are trees above, to about the boundary of the wood as you have it currently, but they're sparse and you can't find shade easily. To me 'wood' implies really thick tree cover. Certainly for navigation, I think showing such a large extent of woodland could be misleading if one were viewing the area from above, or from the valley opposite or alongside.

And since we have the scrub tag, we could show the difference. Ok if I make this change?

Kind regards,

Thanks, I've made a note to put walls in where I've seen them in due course.

Would you be averse to splitting the way anyway, to make it less unwieldy?

One effect of it being so long is that every time any fragment of it is amended (eg, by another fence being joined to it), the whole way gets a new version. So keeping track of the changes is difficult.

Hi,

Thanks that's helpful info. I might one day get around to moving them!

Since you're a regular editor of the area you might be interested in my note near Bal Bach on a similar topic:
