Hi Lexopedia, what was your source for these street names? I ask because you've formatted them in a way that isn't typical for Utah, and I want to make sure you've seen our local guidelines: osm.wiki/Utah/Naming_Conventions

After chatting with some other local mappers, this isn't the first time this has happened, so I've started a new wiki page for the county. The only factor you mentioned I didn't include is traffic volumes, which I can fetch if you think they'll help your case. Please look it over and let me know what you think osm.wiki/User:Dknelson9876/Salt_Lake_County_Road_Classifications

Hey Clay, what's the meaning behind note="temporarily restricted" that you added to a bunch of rails here?

Also, I think I recognize the disconnected portions that you upgraded from railway=light_rail to railway=rail as the portions that still run freight at night every once in a while. Was that your only reasoning for that change?

Sorry to bother you again so soon, and on an old changeset, but I didn't notice some of these upgrades til now, and I take significant issue with some of them. Specifically, Lehman Avenue near West Valley Central, the unnamed road connecting parking lots at Valley Fair Mall, 1950 W near the drive in theater, 1175 W near Fore Lakes Golf Course, Vine St west of Murray Blvd and the connecting Glendon St, Anderson Ave near Viewmont Elementary, and 3720 West (and maybe Gold Medal Drive) near Jordan Landing. None of these are really significant connector or collector roads in my experience

Hi Oregonian, what was your reasoning for upgrading the road to the boat ramp on Mona Reservoir to tertiary? That seems like too high to me, since it's just a turn off with a single destination

I see a lot of areas around here that are labeled as parks or recreation grounds with "commons" or "greens" in the name that I would normally just call grass areas. Can you confirm whether or not these names are signed anywhere, or in use by the local community?

I have not recently been to the park either, I did these edits based on the GTFS data published by NPS. Looks like I somehow didn't notice that old node when doing so, and accidentally created a duplicate. I'll merge the duplicate of the one you linked, and check the others as well. But yes, it does look like the stop was also renumbered since it was added it 2017, so I'll fix that too.

A random sampling of edited items from that changeset all appear correct, thank you. I'm aware that a lot of addresses have that alternate format, I haven't broached the idea of doing a mass edit since the debate isn't settled. The first direction isn't commonly signed as part of the house number or the street name, and a consensus hasn't been reached.

Yeah, [here](node/4801781501) is an address that was parsed correctly, but [here](way/1050564769) is one that's wrong. Finally, [here](osm.wiki/Utah/Naming_Conventions) is the wiki page on current strategies for our streets.

Hey whammo, how did you parse addresses for this? I noticed that number of the addresses in Salt Lake City have the street prefix as addr:unit, which is incorrect

Hi Halfdeaf007, did you leave one road disconnected from the roundabout on purpose? You didn't mention construction, and I see no evidence of the road being disconnected in the most recent imagery or streetview

I can't say for sure what's on the ground, as I haven't been to campus recently, but according to pdc.utah.edu demolition + construction is expected to be from 10/2023 - 08/2025

It's not my favorite, since to a person just looking at the map, they're unlikely to notice the nuance and think that a left turn is not allowed, but I'm willing to accept it because I don't think that there is an optimal way to map this intersection.

145860403 almost 2 years ago

The imagery is up to date for what this intersection looks like. I just think it's gonna be awkward to represent both the divided median and the left turn, either as it is now or in the style that aweech used at way/1200669910. Previously this intersection did not show that left turns were possible, and to me the way it is now, with the division moved a little far to make the left turn smoother, is preferable.

Hi mbeyerle, what about this link do you think needs to be resurveyed?

146154499 almost 2 years ago

You're welcome! It is a little finicky, but relatify (the editor on this changeset) was a great tool, especially as I was getting started, as was the PTNA page for Utah https://ptna.openstreetmap.de/results/US/UT/US-UT-All-Analysis.html). If you don't mind me asking, what was your source for those routes? I can't find any direct information on data licensing on the website for the Aggie shuttles

Hi atlas, I tried to comment on one of your other changesets a bit ago, but since you didn’t reply there, I’m trying again

Why are you actively removing name:prefix and name:full tags? These are needed for proper address building in Utah, as documented at osm.wiki/Utah/Naming_Conventions

145498368 almost 2 years ago

Hi atlas, can I ask your reasoning for changing this one segment from `highway=secondary` to `highway=primary_link`? Everywhere else I look, when a road crosses a carriageway, it still retains the same `highway=` value

I wouldn't call them 'vacant lots' though. They're full of bumpers and signs for use as a parking lot for BSU. That's interesting that they're still registered, but based on some semi-recent redevelopments I've seen around, my guess is that if residences are built here in the future, they will be assigned different numbers than ones that used to be here.
