Almost whole Bahia has been updated. I wish i could upload my changeset way more before but unfortuantly i couldn't due to a Merkaartor issue.
Finally i uploaded 3 changesets today (all which i will give you for this weekend) and a lot of Streets in Lauro de Freitas, correction of Bahian highways and some roads on Itaparica Island has been updated.
Why not help in that region, if you like to? :-)
You tired of Buying a GPS for OSM Use? Nokia finally released a application called "Nokia Sports Tracker" which uses the Maps of OSM. Great idea for mappers using it as it will help you to map areas which are not yet covered by OSM...
The Export of the data includes a Mode to export a track as GPX, too.

I created a ticket but Merkaartor stuff is not able to fix it... That sucks so i can't map a lot currently without using a Sat provider.

I will map a part of Salvador again =- helpers which map with Yahoo are welcome anyway and i upload changes today. POI will be added next week and i will check tomorrow morning for new POI on estrada do coco to add on the map ...

I added some POI and updated them in Guarajuba, Monte Gordo and Salvador. It is currently uploading and i hope i do not get as much conflicts as i expect...
Edit: Yes, i got so i would need to retag the street names again. Shit.
Somebody knows a good DGPS Reciever for computers (should have accuracy of at least 10 meters). would help a lot for mapping...
Retagged some stuff now (see changeset) - got the poi data from english wikipedia. great but have less data.
at least i tagged 3 football stadiums :)
Mapped whole night; need cooffee but the result for Salvcador seems to be VERY GOOD!!!! Have a look at my changeset or look just at Merkaartor:

Oh Shit i didnt even drove through whgole Monte Gordo anyway, but Guarajuba is complete (exported GPX to KML) so i will hopefully add them later on... Stay tuned :)
Today i will map Guarajuba and Monte Gordo (was driving every fucking street by moto today).
So some parts of the map will be removed before i will add them again...
Uploaded a lot aof changes but 60% wasnt taken due to Conflict messages. I think the server of OSM is currently some kind of gaga :)
I just finally uploaded today and yesterday a lot of work in Salvador and Lauro de Freitas, but it's still not even close to be done.
Anyway: I will map Praia do Forte using GPS but i am still unsure when i will do that. Either Saturday or next week.
Working on Arembepe now. Upload will come in the next hour i think so...
Added a small part of Lauro de Freitas in Brazil, anyway added yesterday the main road of Guarajuba and updated a lot of POI there and in Monte Gordo.
Will add some stuff in Arembepe later on too.

I am happy to find OSM as an alternative Stuff for Google. So i can design as a coder my card as i want and add data to it. The most biggest
Places in the world - especially Europe are almost complete. But: I am not living in Europe - i live in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil.
Over here the maps are horrible; Street names are missing and even signs for street don't exists on all places. POI (Point of interests) are
not added so i decided to correct those datas, add missing streets by GPS Waytrack and more. As i will use the map data for me too
I will mainly add and edit all streets in the near of Salvador (Camaçari, Monte Gordo, Arembepe up to Mata do São Jaoa, Jauá and around.
As Salvador has just a bit and Lauro de Freitas almost no public streets in OSM i will add them when i find time to waytrack them.
When i add POI they exists. That does not mean in Brazil that they will exist tomorrow (like everywhere on the world). Thats why i just POI
stores which are on the place a long time and no fresh small stores where you don't know if they exist tomorrow.
The time i invest on OSM will vary. Small places like Monte Gordo is not even in my GPS Reciever with newest Navteq Map. So OSM will be - at
a time to come a bit closer than them.. As i do not have a car i will track by foot or by bus.
The biggest roads in Salvadore are done but anyway: There are a lot of missing smaller roads which is a lot of work for a
big city like Salvador. Even any kind of small roads in Lauro de Freitas are done (expect of the Main road, the so called
"Estrada do Coco" - The coconut road). I will add some streets when i will be over there again and track the route and Point
of Interests.
Cuyrrently i added a lot of POI for Guarajuba, Monte Gordo and Salvador. Next week Lauro de Freitas will follow - at least the main street.
