Changeset When Comment
51162011 about 8 years ago

Tubk86 has been active for a longer time, and s/he has responded to a changeset comment once, so I tried to ask her/him about the meaning of the tagging and if it's a University project:
changeset/53418386

A newly active mapper: @Anh%20Sơn/history#map=13/10.8363/106.7702

If this is a University project (DITAGIS), maybe your professor would like to get into contact with the OSM community? The way things are going at the moment is not very sustainable, and wasting a lot of effort of students and other mappers.

51162011 about 8 years ago

Google says, Ditagis is the "CENTER FOR DEVELOPING INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEM (DITAGIS)" at the Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology: http://www.ditagis.hcmut.edu.vn/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=281&Itemid=134
So this looks like a student project, which might explain why some mappers are active for a short while only.

Hi Tubk86,
you are still adding addr:housenumber=ks and addr:place=a to some nodes. Why? What meaning do these tags have for you?

53655600 about 8 years ago

Hi Nikki Beaudoin, welcome to OpenStreetMap!
.
It seems that you had some trouble with Lake Beseka. (I have repaired the lake, it should re-appear soon.)
.
The lake is mapped as a "relation", which makes it a little bit more complicated than other areas. iD is not the best editor when it comes to large and/or complicated things. If you want to continue with OSM, maybe try JOSM?
.
Look at osm.org/help for ways to get help. OSM is full of nice people who are willing to help (even if Carnildo sounds slightly sarcastic... ;-)

Hi Tubk86,

I see you are trying to clean up a bit of the messy tagging here. Please note that in order to be useful for anybody, tags should be used as defined in the wiki.

osm.wiki/Addresses
addr=*
information=*

All addr:housename=a should be deleted, they don't make sense.

addr:place with some number is also very likely wrong. What do you want to express with the numbers in that tag?

Also, information=* has to do with tourism=information only in OSM. If you have any other information that belongs in the database, maybe put it as note=* ( note=* )

If you need help cleaning up here, please say so! If these wrong tags are not cleaned up, I fear someone will just delete all the nodes without keeping any address information.

Hi Eirik,
the tag "elevation=*" is available, so you don't need to put the info in the name tag as with Gimshøgda node/4892716849
Compare with node/4443782832

Hope this helps :-) Happy mapping

Hello Eirik!
I saw that you entered some areas as "buiding=house" here: way/502769609
There are small houses visible on bing, but the areas should definitely tagged with something different. What are those areas? If it's a administrative thing, look at boundary=administrative. If it's just a place that has a name, then maybe a place=isolated_dwelling or hamlet or even place=plot would fit?

Btw, do you know the license of the statkart.no imagery you used? I found this: https://www.kartverket.no/en/data/Terms-of-use/ which says "CC BY 4.0", which is *NOT* compatible with OSM, see osm.wiki/Import/ODbL_Compatibility and https://blog.openstreetmap.org/2017/03/17/use-of-cc-by-data/

OK, the other nodes seem to be correct as far as I can tell by the context of each. Only one is tagged as "monument", which might be wrong.

At this location here, there's also a tree called "Linde" which just shows that where there is one error, there are often more. I'll change this now...

52430131 about 8 years ago

That query is an interesting way to check this! I just noticed the "artist_name" tag on this node and would have tried to look for other objects with artist_names.

49183729 about 8 years ago

Hi Nyuriks,
in this case, I think "artist:wikipedia" would probably be better than "subjectct:wikipedia". I can change that, but could you check if you had some other artworks in your changesets where artist and subject got confused?

51162011 over 8 years ago

Hi 91301101, welcome to OpenStreetMap!

I think that you want to add good information, but the way that you are doing this right now is not very useful.

Please read the wiki to check if you are using the tags correctly: osm.wiki/Main_Page

For example, here is the description of the "addr:*" keys: addr=*
So, please don't use addr:housename=a and addr:place=a. If you do not know a value, just leave it empty.
Also, the "information" key has a narrow definition in Openstreetmap: information=*
So something like node/5038407555 can not be interpreted by software. What do you mean with "Duong 11 Dinh Phong Phu-0908"? Maybe I can help you to find a better fitting way to store this data?

Have you seen note=* and description=*

I'm not sure it is an import... There seems to be a group of people who survey this area but don't yet know much about the tagging in OSM.

Hi Tubk86, I have just found this old discussion. Do you think you can still correct all these nodes? Can we help you somehow? Or would it be easier for you if we just delete all the nodes with wrong tagging?

50662636 over 8 years ago

Hello Danhthanhnguyen94,
The tags here really do not make any sense:
node/4885328114
What were you trying to map?
Please look for fitting tags on the wiki or just ask!
