Opposite the library entrance is the site of Maesteg Uchaf farmhouse (demolished 1930s). The site is marked by a plaque set into When the valley was sparsely populated with scattered farms, a new iron company leased some of the Maesteg Uchaf land in 1826 and took its name from the farm. The Maesteg Ironworks was in production by 1828 and the town began to grow around it.

3. St David’s Church, Eglwys Dewi Sant, (1853). The main church serving the Anglican congregation in the town until the opening of St Michael’s in 1897. Originally it was closely associated with the local iron industry, for example services in English were conducted by a curate paid by the Llynfi iron companies. Architect: Egbert Moxham of Neath. The oldest, unaltered, public building in the valley.

way/331041856 needs a proper survey - it doesn't join at each end and doesn't match the imagery.

Set on the South Wales coast, Merthyr Mawr Warren National Nature Reserve is home to the highest dune in Wales, known as the Big Dipper.

The dune system here is like no other in Wales, partly due to the huge area it covers – it extends to 840 acres (the size of 340 international rugby pitches!).

Merthyr Mawr is a haven for wildlife - sand has settled on top of the ancient limestone cliffs creating a special habitat for insects, fungi and plants.

There are also grasslands, saltmarsh, beach and woods within the reserve.

Flints from the Stone Age, burial mounds and pottery from the Bronze Age, hearths from the Iron Age, and Roman tiles have all been discovered here.

The driver reported that it was no right turn in this place. This may be a one-way street. Can anyone confirm?
