Helo, diolch!

Dwi ddim yn credu ein bod yn gallu defnyddio’r map yma gan Gyngor Gwynedd am ei fod yn defnyddio data hawlfreintiedig gan yr Arolwg Ordnans - mae’n rhaid i ddata fod yn gydnaws â thrwydded OpenStreetMap (sef yr ODbL). Mae data o dan Drwydded Llywodraeth Agored 3.0 (OGL 3.0) yn iawn er enghraifft.

Hi TansyR,

Could I please ask what streetlevel imagery you used as your source? The Bing Streetside in this area doesn't cover all of the streets and isn't very clear here.

Hi beza208,

Your comment says you added buildings, but it seems you've only added power poles here. Could you please ensure your changeset comments match what you're doing?

I've reinstated the path way/1421997748

Feel free to edit it further if it's inaccurate

Hi Männedorf,

I’m going to second what Phil said above here - if there is no signed Welsh name on the ground (or given to you with permission to use), then there shouldn’t be one mapped.

Using a translation you’ve come up with yourself isn’t correct data - sometimes placenames and street names aren’t direct translations of each other.

Hi there AAB2024,

Sorry to comment 2 months later, but please don't add "Unnamed Road" to the addr:street tag. If the street is not named, then the field should be left blank, otherwise you're adding false data.

Hi Stephan, welcome to OSM

Could you please write more detailed changeset comments instead of "."? This helps others around you know what you've been working on! This page on the wiki may be able to help you:

osm.wiki/Good_changeset_comments

You can also make more than a couple of changes at a time, in case that's something you were worried about as well.

That won’t get anybody anywhere. If you have knowledge of the trail, you could use it by tagging the trail appropriately, to your knowledge, and then data consumers should eventually take and process these tags - everybody benefits. Adding more data is a good thing!

Access tags can be added to show that the trail isn’t public, and as 0235 said above there are more tags for trail conditions. A lot of things on OSM start out with almost no detailed data to them with the intent of others adding more in over time

You can add these tags yourself based on your knowledge of the track. That’s what OSM is all about.

> “you are now partially responsible for any injuries and SAR callouts that may happen here”

REMOVING valid data makes it so much more difficult for emergency services, especially in areas like this with a lot of tree cover. Not having the trail mapped could lead responders down the wrong path in a situation where time is paramount, and potentially leave them underprepared. This point does not stand up in any way.

Hi there,

These trees are much better represented as nodes, as they are not forested areas. You can see on Bing these are individual trees.

Please see:

Hi there Supergooper, croeso i OSM

Are you sure this is a bar?

In the editor, you can click on the little "i" icon and it will give you a description of the tag and take you to the wiki where you can find more information

Helo Storgar,

Features should not be given descriptive names like "Fish and Chips" or just "Shop". Instead, you should search for tag presets shown on the sidebar when you're editing, and fill in the "name" fields in with the name of the business. For example, you can search for "fish and chips" in there, and a preset should come up.

Should be fixed now - I added "Pond Twym" as an alt name since I do agree with you.

Perhaps there used to be a bridge here, as this would be where the "Pont" would come from. I've never heard it be called any kind of llyn/pwll/etc either

145554658 7 months ago

Hi there, I live locally and I grew up with my parents calling it Pont Twym (with a T), not once have I heard it being Pond (with a D) personally but I can also see it being used.

Thanks for the note about the OSM key - I can fix that when I get home. I always get that mixed up

Hi there,

I'm not the one who started the project unfortunately and all I do is contribute, but you can try and ask?
