Other batteries were covered over in the construction of the beach highway, and later by the addition of a landfill site in the areas. Battery Hambright is the only surviving one left ... I discovered this by accident and then reported the mortar earthen works to then park ranger Talley Kirkland who attempted to have the area protected under the Natl. Park service but due to several logistical hurdles this was never done.
