Trail south of this marker location doesn't appear to exist based on Strava heat map data

I'm aware that Cottingham has long considered itself the largest village in England. I would agree, except for the small fact that it received a market charter in 1319, thus rendering it a market town. If and/or when this status was rescinded, I can find no record. Look at the streets; the street names; the population; the size and importance of the church; the market references. All of these spell 'town', added to which, villages don't normally contain civic centres. Cottingham boasts a fine civic centre. Cottingham is larger and arguably more comprehensive than Hedon, Withernsea, Horrnsea or Market Weighton. So, is it not high time to admit to its illustrious and proud history as a substantial mediæval market town?
