La ciudad mundial desarrollada de Budapest tuvo aquí su cuarto puente vial. La construcción del puente fue motivo de orgullo para la ingeniería húngara. Los fascistas destructores lo explotaron sin sentido el 18 de enero de 1945. El nuevo Puente de Isabel fue construido en tres años de trabajo y se completó en 1964.
