Hola Daniel,

Me parece bien.

Sure - I have subscribed to that thread, so no need to add further updates here.

I have had another look at Everydoor and now understand better what happened. I think there are really two issues here - the general one about amenity=fixme, and a more specific one about what happens if you change from fixme to a "real" shop type in the same edit. Maybe a more detailed description is helpful:

1. While surveying with EveryDoor I saw something that was clearly an unmapped shop, but it was closed for the night and I couldn't tell exactly what kind of shop. I searched for "shop" (maybe with shop=yes in mind) and chose "shop fixme" from the drop down list.
2. I now know that this immediately creates the 3 fixme tags (none of which refer to "shop", so the interface is a bit misleading).
3. While still editing the POI, I noticed that a website was displayed, which allowed me to identify it as a stationery shop. So I changed the shop type to stationery.
4. I now know that this created shop=stationery but left the other 3 tags in place. I suppose I should have checked the raw tags at the time. I normally do that when changing the type of an existing POI in EveryDoor, in case there are tags that are no longer relevant to the new type. But in this case I was still in the process of creating the new POI so I didn't think of it.
5. Reviewing my own changes at home I spotted the fixme tag and removed it. I easily noticed the fixme:type tag also, as it is close to fixme in alphabetical order. But I simply never noticed the amenity tag. As I had not tagged any kind of amenity at any point, and was not aware of Everydoor using amenity=fixme on other POIs, it was not something I had in mind.
6. Once that was done, there was nothing to attract my attention to the amenity=fixme tag, even though I look at POIs in this area quite frequently. So it stayed that way until you mentioned it.

Somehow in Everydoor I generated tags "fixme=type", "fixme:type=yes", and "amenity=fixme" - I have no idea how! I removed the 1st two soon after, but didn't notice the 3rd - I have removed it now. Thanks for pointing it out.

Sorry, I must have been typing at the same time as SomeoneElse! Didn't intend to pile on there, but don't think I can delete it now.

Hi,
I was wondering if the change from historic_township to town was discussed with Irish mappers or anywhere else? In isolation "place=town" suggests this is actually a town currently. Only the boundary=historic tag and the end dates give clues that this is not a real "place=town", and even that is not entirely clear - does that apply to only the boundary, or also to the place node? I'm not sure we can rely on data consumers checking other (relatively obscure) tags to realise that this is not a genuine place=town.

I have now fixed the route relation plus others with similar issues, and asked about it here
https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/125234

Thanks for the help figuring this out, I would have been reluctant to change the tags without understanding where they came from.

Thanks, I will ask about it on the Community Forum when I get a chance (also away from my laptop).

Based on a reply by one of the other mappers, I am starting to see that the significance of Asturias is that it is the first one in the editor suggestions list in alphabetical order. Trying to avoid that with a not: tag probably just pushes it to the next on the list, which is Cadiz.

I'm not sure if this reflects something wrong with the data used in the name suggestion index for Spanish train networks specifically, or a more global issue in the way the index is used.

Thanks. The odd thing is that there are several similar cases, e.g. "Cercanías Asturias" on routes in central and southern Spain. All introduced by different mappers as far as I can see. So I have left comments rather than just deleting the tags in case there is an an underlying cause.

Hola

Hello,
The route relation Granada - Almeria is tagged as Cercanias Asturias. I think it was introduced with this changeset. Was this intended?

Hello,
The route for the Alvia Madrid-Badajoz is tagged as network Cercanías Cadiz. I think it started with this changeset - was this intended?

Hola

Thanks for replying! I think highway=service is a reasonable classification so - I will make the change.

No problem - I've been in plenty of those "not sure if this is a public road or not" situations in Andalucía myself!

Thanks! I think highway=service would be a safe choice, it has less expectation of public access than highway=residential (especially as it doesn't lead anywhere). Perhaps adding service=driveway to imply even more strongly it is not for general use. I feel that an "approximately correct" classification would be better than highway=road which could be anything. But I'll leave it to you as you have been there.

Hi, I believe our paths have crossed on Mastodon! I just wanted to check whether the use of highway=road on way/1269072971 and one adjoining way was intended. From imagery they look similar to neighbouring ways tagged as highway=service so maybe they could also be tagged that way?

(Question prompted by discussion on the future of highway=road at https://community.openstreetmap.org/t/rfc-deprecating-highway-road-in-favor-of-highway-unknown/118864/15 - it would be good to tidy up any remaining highway=road if possible).
