almost 4 years ago | I copied the location from the NYC Ferry mobile app's map. It doesn't look like they have it on their website anywhere. I don't know if it's exactly that spot but based on that and some descriptions of the shuttle I can't find anymore I believe it's near there.

almost 4 years ago | It looks like the new footprint (from the Bing Imagery) is the same as the outermost footprint. I think the grass/plant areas may be on the roof which makes it a little confusing. You could combine all the parts to make one building. A fixme tag is fine if you'd like to leave a note on the situation. If you want to tag the gym layout inside there are some indoor mapping tags, I'm not too familiar with them. Entrances/exits may be helpful too.
almost 4 years ago | Hello, it looks like this building was redone recently (https://www.timeout.com/newyork/news/a-24-hour-bouldering-gym-with-a-rooftop-cafe-and-sauna-is-opening-in-brooklyn-041421). The Bing imagery looks different than the other imagery. Are the footprints still the same? Also I believe you need to add `building=part` to the individual lines that make up the greater building relation. building:part=*
about 4 years ago | Great sidewalks! Some tips for more detail: Please consider adding "crossing=marked" or "unmarked" (crossing=marked) to crossings that are painted like this one way/1010032163 while you're mapping them. If you have time to add kerb information here's an example on the other side of the park - node/8385846002. If you don't know what type of barrier it is you can leave the nodes just as "barrier=kerb" and add "kerb=*" later or someone else can add that. It can be a pain though to draw out all those lines, though it will help with accessible routing in the future. Also if you're using the iD editor you can hit "Q" to square the crosswalk lines
about 4 years ago | I'm not sure, I can take a look this weekend.
over 4 years ago | Hello Yuliya, I appreciate the response! I see the updated road markings. Thank you for improving the area.
over 4 years ago | How recent is the Maxar imagery? All the other imagery indicates it's one way here.
over 4 years ago | Would you be opposed to changing the tags to official_ref=* or unsigned_ref=*? They may be the official route numbers, but if you asked someone for directions where some of these were they'd stare at you blankly. I may be thinking too much of the renderer though...
over 4 years ago | "offical_ref" may also be an option, having a side discussion here https://osmus.slack.com/archives/CJ4QKU40H/p1620396016075800
over 4 years ago | On second though, "unsigned_ref" might be a better tag.
over 4 years ago | Hello, can you explain why you've added County Route numbers as "ref=" tag when many were already labeled as "old_ref=". From my understanding reading this wikipage https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_county_routes_in_Nassau_County,_New_York they are not in use. I grew up in the area and don't recall ever seeing them signed or referred to as such, though that may be just the area I lived in.
over 4 years ago | Hey, are you sure this crosswalk is possible? Looks like there's a fence there from bing streetside but that could be outdated.
over 4 years ago | I asked on the OSMUS Slack and it looks like it probably happened when I split the footpath from the relation way over here. way/827743932/history#map=19/40.65862/-73.98533
over 4 years ago | That's strange, I was trying not to touch it...I'm wondering if ID messed with it because I disconnected footpath paths nearby? I don't know if any of them were actually touching the relation though. It looks like the relation still exists but the version wasn't bumped relation/12520114 I'm sorry about that, will try to be more careful next time. Is there anything I should undo or re-add or does it look like that relation is the same?
almost 5 years ago | Oh no! I was tracing using OSM background and forgot to flip back to satellite imagery. Things should be aligned now, fixed with changeset/101219457
| 98670979 | almost 5 years ago | Thanks for the feedback. The whole area is a bit ambiguous here but I updated the extents to be larger. changeset/98677541 As well as some other features I recently added
Let me know if those look ok. |
almost 5 years ago | Yeah, I was referring to that method of using a single way. I am familiar with the OpenSidewalks schema and the Taskar center that produced it (I previously lived/mapped in Seattle where they're based). Their schema is hanging the "proposed" status since 2016 and it may have deviated from this wiki osm.wiki/Proposed_features/sidewalk_schema. I don't mind if you keep mapping them that way, it's no problem to update just takes more clicks. I don't see them as incompatible but rather one having more detail than the other. It would be great to produce similar accessibility maps (https://www.accessmap.io/) though that require a lot of micromapping across the city. I'm not as familiar with sidewalk examples across the world (or even country). I agree with your views on simplest mapping and preserving routability. It would be great to focus on just those areas which are needed for correct pedestrian routing like your example, but unfortunately I'm not too familiar with the area yet and don't find them unless I'm already mapping sidewalks. I've been working on a quicker process using some of the open data provided by the city. I appreciate the response as well as all your mapping efforts. Feels like every other feature I query last had your edits on it! Hope we can all meet up again soon, until then feel free to reach out if you see my edits are incorrect or would like someone to check on something in Brooklyn.
almost 5 years ago | Hello, would you be able to add crosswalks as separate ways in the future? It helps with adding curb detail later on. Working on the other side of the park now - way/902880816
