Reverted in changeset/125827988 . Again, local consensus has a higher standard for what can be considered as highway=motorway. This road's limited-access characteristics are conveyed in the expressway=yes tag that is already on it.

Additionally, these roads were already tagged with expressway=yes, which is used to denote their limited access characteristics.

This changeset has been reverted, as the roads do not meet the local requirements for highway=motorway. See changeset/125827791

Hi,

You mapped a traffic signal on the subway line beneath the street. Please be careful with what you're mapping.

I have partially reverted this changeset. I set ref=BR again in the Bronx, as this is what is signed. I noticed that you added ref=JR to the Jackie Robinson Parkway, which follows the same conventions that would make the Bronx River Parkway have ref=BR.

Also, I moved alt_name to official_name, as this is more suitable for memorial names that aren't in typical use (e.g. Bronx Veterans Memorial Highway).

Hi,

I'm not so sure about using a multipolygon for this, but I'm not aware of a better (commonly used) relation for this.

For now, I'm just going to move the current name to official_name, as it is long, cumbersome, and no one would really use it in normal speech. I'll move alt_name (University at Buffalo) to name, and make alt_name "SUNY Buffalo". I feel that this is more representative of the way people refer to the university.

Hi,

Why did you make the Central Westchester Parkway trunk? Is it because NYSDOT said so, or just because it's an expressway?

Hi,

Thanks for contributing! I'm more or less okay with NY-22 being primary, at least in most of Westchester. Mamaroneck Avenue probably deserves it too, though I don't get over that way too much.

That said, you've been making a lot of significant classification changes over the last day, for the most part seemingly copied verbatim from NYSDOT. Though there are new classification guidelines in place that are based on NYSDOT data, NYC and the area around it isn't as solidified as the rest of the state.

If you're going to be making a lot of classification changes, please have a voice in the community and ask for opinions before you make significant changes. The #local-newyorkstate channel in the OSMUS Slack (https://slack.openstreetmap.us/) is a great place to start. If you could join and let us know your intentions before making these changes, we can make sure there's consensus before anyone puts in the time to change anything.

Thanks!

Just commenting here to point out that for CR-72, you entered `network=US:MN;Aitkin` instead of `US:MN:Aitkin`. I'll go ahead and fix it.

Hi, thanks for the contribution. Just a few things here:

- Please don't include country=USA. This is entirely unnecessary.
- Make sure to use the full street name. Instead of 1013 Brown St, please Enter 1013 Brown Street.
- Is this business really open 24/7?

Thanks!

The same issues are present here with the maxheight and maxweight as in the previous changeset.

The issues are:
- No space should be between 11' and 4".
- The max height should be in `maxheight`, not `bridge:maxheight`.
- The unit for the weight should be "st", not "t".
- The max weight should be in `maxweight`, not `bridge:maxweight`.

I'll fix it this time, but please try to make these changes when adding more similar data.

A few things here:

Please try to group similar changes in each of your changesets. For example, the title of this changeset would make one expect that all you modified was Quaker Bridge. However, you also modified several other roads in the neighborhood with maxspeeds and surfaces. This is good data to add, but it would be better added as a separate changeset. Ideally, this changeset would have only included your modifications to Quaker Bridge. Then, a second changeset titled something like "Add surfaces and maxspeeds in Croton" could be uploaded with the other changes you made. This greatly helps others verify the edits you make.

Aside from that, there are some issues with the data you added. First of all, you have created the only two instances of the `bridge:maxheight` key. This value should instead be put on the `highway` way that crosses the bridge, in the `maxheight` key. In this case, I have already added it for Quaker Bridge. I could see an argument being made for also putting this value on the bridge outline, but if you do, it would probably be better to just put it in `maxheight` instead of `bridge:maxheight`.

Also, how did you get the value of `maxweight` you added? I surveyed this within the last year, and it was 12 tons, not 15. The correct unit for this is "st", not "t", as "t" is a metric ton. In the US, what we can a ton is a "short ton", denoted as "st".

Finally, Quaker Bridge is not a cantilever bridge, but rather a truss bridge.

Hi,

Why are you adding no U-turn restrictions like this? There are no signs that say you're not allowed to.

Also, you specified oneway=no on several roads, so perhaps the changeset comment could have been something like "Explicitly specified that some roads aren't one-way."

I'm removing the no U-turn restrictions, since they don't exist.

I'm reverting this changeset for the same reason specified in the previous changeset.

121236555 over 3 years ago

Hi, and thanks for joining OSM!

I'm a local to the area, and I wound up adding, and then removing the name "Croton Expressway" from this road. While historically it might have been referred to by this name, I've never once heard anyone refer to it by this name locally. As such, I moved this name to the `old_name` key.

I'm going to remove the name again, and leave it in `old_name`. If you disagree, please let me know and we can work it out.

Thanks,
John

I can't see way/922995949 on the latest NYS Orthos, or on Mapbox Satellite like you specified in your imagery_used. Did you survey this?
