What was wrong with it?

Being created with an editor that added foot=yes automatically in a preset is itself understanding why, especially when new editors were involved. I clicked through that preset in my early days and I am sure many others did too. It was wholly orthogonal to any process of tagging ways foot=designated.

When paths tagged highway=footway foot=yes were created with Potlatch 1, the tag foot=yes is likely to have come from an editor preset and is much less valuable.

Hi, I am looking into possible bugs in the iD editor. I notice that the tags on the ways you edited changed to building=yes or building=no. Was that a change you made deliberately?

Has the building actually been demolished?

Did you mean to delete node/5971433286/history ?

Without having gone back yet, you are probably right.

Have the roads you deleted actually been closed?

You used the tag landuse=wood instead of natural=wood or landuse=forest. You also need to remember that OSM data is used by a variety of search, routing and other applications, not only maps, and they will try to interpret anything that you put in the name tag.

Could you explain what was wrong with the edits you reverted?

Are you happy that this edit in several different countries complies with the automated edit policy?

Did you mean to enter the postcode as NW10 7F?

Where do the names for landuse polygons come from and are you happy the names apply to the boundaries of the polygons?

Is the long name for the Comfort Inn intentional, also could you confirm that you have not copied from any copyrighted source without permission?

The point about trolltags is that it isn’t the trolltag itself (here crossing=no) that misleads data consumers; rather the problem is with the tag that it compromises that consumers shouldn’t have to see in the first place.

The tag foot=yes is much less useful on ways that were created in Potlatch 1, where it was a preset.
