Hi gobearsberkeley,

Thanks for the article, however it doesn't seem to mention the parks you added, or their adjacent streets.

"Areas up for consideration in the program include several blocks of Broadway spanning El Camino Real to Main Street and the section of Main Street between Broadway and Middlefield Road. The project as presented would leave three cross Streets of Broadway open including Winslow Street, Hamilton Street and Jefferson Avenue. "

This would put the changes more towards the city center.

Searches for "Cleveland Urban Park" and "Fulton Urban Park" also reveal nothing - no reported council business, no newspaper articles, no references to development or legislative applications.

Hi gobearsberkeley,

These parks have been added by new mappers before and subsequently flagged as fictional and private front yards

Do you have any evidence these exist?
Newspaper articles? Photos of the location?

This actually reverts changeset #86266768, but for the same reason.

Previously, the account "ProfessorOak" (user:8081423) has added fictional parks in this general area, including two almost identical parks over this same building.
They have been requested to stop via comment on changeset/86214052

Hello ProfessorOak,
You have added several parks over houses and apartments. This is not how we use park tagging on OSM. Please do not add fictional features to the map, they will be removed.

Aaaaannnd all 527 nodes have been (poorly) reverted back into existence in changeset/86143199 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hi Pitner,
Thanks for the response.
I can see how some of this area would be considered a park or similiar, by OSM definitions, a lot of this area looks like it should be residential landuse instead?

leisure=park
"A park is an area of open space for recreational use, usually designed and in semi-natural state with grassy areas, trees and bushes."

landuse=residential
"An area of land dedicated to, or having predominantly residential buildings such as houses..."

Hi Pitner,
I commented the last time you did this and you didn't respond. Are you sure the tag leisure=park applies to the entirety of this area? There appears to be houses, farmland and other features here that clearly aren't a park.

If these areas have sports courts and other features, they need to be added separately.

If you continue to add fictional features, they will be removed and you will be reported to the DWG.

Hi msbshow,

You seem to be adding park tagging to a lot of things that aren't parks. Two things I've noticed in this changeset at the moose lodge, the resort and the volley ball court.

There are other tags you can use to describe those kinds of features.

You can read more about park tagging on the OSM wiki: leisure=park

The wiki is a great resource if you're ever wondering how to tag something.

Hiya,
Looks like you accidentally dragged some footways at the north end of this edit : way/34152172

(please excuse that random "f" I pressed comment to quickly)

And secondly, please be careful adding personal information to the map. Who owns a path or a private house shouldn't be added to the map. Additionally, there are limits to what you should add to private property, you can read more here: osm.wiki/Limitations_on_mapping_private_information.

Hi Bradlee,

Welcome to OSM and thanks for your recent additions!

Just some comments on your recent changes: f

Firstly the yard surrounding a house is not a park. OSM defines parks in a specific way, you can read more here: leisure=park. If you want to map grassed areas, there are other tags you can use, such as landuse=grass or landuse=meadow depending on their application.

Hi Tomahawk414!

Welcome to OSM and thanks for your recent additions!

Have you checked out the OSM wiki yet? It's a great guide on how to use different tags to describe things.

I've noticed you've used some tags a little bit incorrectly in your changes- some of those incorrect usages include "natural=grassland" on tennis courts and park areas (when it comes to grassland, think plains of natural, unmaintained wild grass) and also "landuse=greenfield" which implies natural land slated for development.

You can find the wiki here: osm.wiki/Main_Page

Hi Pitner,
Welcome back to OSM!
OSM defines parks as "an area of open space for recreational use" but you've got this park running over houses, farmland, Rice Lake and other features. Are you sure park is the best tag for this entire area?

Hi Bubslecubs,

Welcome to OSM and thanks for your first edit!

Gardner Village is already on the map, here: way/720274212

Generally, we operate on a rule of "one feature, one OSM element", you can read more here: osm.wiki/One_feature,_one_OSM_element

Hi weijielim,

Welcome to OSM and thank you for your contribution!

Are you sure leisure=park is the best tag for this area? At a glance, it looks like natural=wood may be a better fit.

Hi Jared,

Welcome to OSM!

In this edit, you pulled one of the nodes in the adjacent parking lot into the park you added. Now the two features intersect each other.

I also can't find any information that verifies your edit - what is your source? The buildings and park don't appear on Bing Aerial Imagery (which your changeset lists as the imagery you used) and I've been unable to find any reference to a Sherman Park in Johnson City.

Some of your other changesets also have comments, so you might want to check those out.

Please reach out if you need any help!
