Fantastic, thanks so much. It was great working with you to help sort this out.

Hi again U2429POP,

This is the second comment I am posting about the footways you are adding.

Many of the footways you are adding obviously do not exist due to their impossible angles or the fact that they pass through obstacles such as buildings or fences.

Some of the other footways you are adding are already on the map and don't need to be duplicated.

You are also frequently using footways incorrectly. One such example is that you are using them to show the divisions of parking bays in parking lots, this is not the correct usage for this tag.

Please only add real features to OSM. You are welcome to add real paths and sidewalks, but your pretend ones will be removed.

If you need help, please feel free to reach out. It is easier for the OSM community to help teach you how to map correctly rather than having to follow you around and clean up or revert your edits.

Hi U2429POP,

Welcome to OSM!
Just wondering what you're trying to add to the map here: way/772815224 ?

80878584 almost 6 years ago

Hi Taz,

You seem to be adding a lot of strange zig-zagging footways in parks that don't appear in any imagery and aren't really connected to anything else including the other footways that you've added.

We define footways in a particular way on OSM highway=footway

If an area is just open grass and you can walk over it, we generally do not map those kinds of locations as a highway, as most routing engines should be able to cope with moving from point A to point B in an open space.

There are also a lot of other tags we can use for areas you can walk that might not be formal footpaths, such as highway=track and highway=service which have sometimes subltle but importantly different meanings.

Hi Sopedaddy and welcome to OSM :)

There's quite a few instances of Wright Park at this location now (I count at least 4 at a glance) are they are the same park?

Typically we try to keep to the rule of "One feature, one OSM element": osm.wiki/One_feature,_one_OSM_element"

Maybe these should all be updated to one area?

Hi umarkhan,

Welcome to OSM!

There's already a park at this location:
way/43315119
There's no need to duplicate it as a second park covering the same location. By chance, were you attempting to change the name or include it in the other park area just to the North?

80739752 almost 6 years ago

I'm not sure if we're on the same page here, in the south west corner of this edit, you've created about a dozen parks.

leisure=park

"A park is an area of open space for recreational use ... This tag is intended for (usually urban) parks with managed greenery, located within settlements and nearly always open to general public."

The area you've covered with these parks looks more like a series of wetland basins than anything else?

A section of Howard Street should be one-way as it splits - between Howard Place and Dudley Street.

Hi Taj,

Welcome to OSM!

I'm not sure if leisure=park is the best tag for features like this:

way/770945911#map=18/-35.61977/137.35574

Do you know what these actually are?

Hi LilPoundcake,

Welcome to OSM!

I've had a look at your recent edits and unfortunately is seems like you've dragged a lot of nodes all over the map.

In some cases you've dragged footpaths and roads from where they should be and put them in the middle of buildings instead.

Please keep in mind that when you save/publish your changes they go live to the map.

Also, please check the definition for parks on the OSM wiki - leisure=park - some of the areas you've added do appear to contain small spaces that could meet that definition, but it definitely does not apply to the whole university blocks you've covered in the tag.

Hi TheRealBatman,
Welcome to OSM!
The park you added was already on the map - way/33106025 you created a duplicate of itin this edit - way/770557590
You also seem to have moved a disk golf basket, was that intentional?

*former* Walmart building

Please do not make fictional changes to OSM. They will be removed and reported. OpenStreetMap is a real world map used for many purposes, fake additions like this do harm to the project and make it less likely that companies (like Niantic) will update their maps in the future.

Really? That must be one huge tent. Have you got a photo of it? I've looked through the Promatia social media pages and website and can't find any information an an established/temporary settlement at this location.

80183193 almost 6 years ago

Tents are temporary features, they aren't a rather large town hall building. Once the building is actually constructed, it's welcome on the map.

78948261 almost 6 years ago

Checked what is there now, the answer is a whole bunch of Crofty's signage, a "for lease" sign in the window and an empty shopfront.

80183193 almost 6 years ago

I'm going to guess that this building doesn't exist on the ground at this time either? Last time this hall was added, it was over 200km away( node/6797011216) so where does the hall actually physically stand right now?

79964474 almost 6 years ago

HI MrMashy,

Welcome back to OSM. I see that you've re-added some features related to the proposed micronation, Promatia.

Does the office you've placed here exist as a physical building at this time?

As I mentioned the last time you made changes at this location, OSM deals with what is on the ground. If the office doesn't exist yet, it most likely doesn't belong on the map.

Thanks for getting those, I've reported this mapper to the DWG as they have made several problematic changes at this location as well as others.

Thank you, I really appreciate it.
