over 6 years ago | I have received a response from the Economic Development Developer (who has been extremely helpful). There is no B&B at this location at this time, and there is no park as either the local government or OSM defines it. Adamant1, point well taken - in most cases of obvious Pokemon Go inspired vandalism, I completely agree. However, as the OSM wiki describes, I do try to give the benefit of the doubt where I can. In this particular case, the vandal had gone to the extent of doctoring images, creating a website and listing false details about this location on other databases/services. If nothing else, one has to admire their determination and creativity.
over 6 years ago | Hi there! You removed the fixme from Delaware Road Playground in this changeset but didn't mention why - were you able to confirm it is still called this? The name has been removed from the current NSW LPI basemap.
over 6 years ago | Hi, You shouldn't use the name= tag for descriptions. Name= should be reserved for actual names of things. osm.wiki/Names Also, some of the paths you're adding here don't really seem to exist, especially the ones that pass through parks with surface=grass - what's the difference between the paths and the rest of the park?
over 6 years ago | Hi DNAsmoothie, further to TravGW's point above, are you able to clarify the source of these footways? There's no GPS traces at the location and I have to admit that they don't make much sense.
over 6 years ago | Response received from Economic Development Director for the City of Centralia stating that they are not presently aware of either Dogwood B&B or Meadow Park, but will investigate further
| 71127918 | over 6 years ago | The mapper in question has now sent me another private message threatening that they and their friends will mass report me for this changeset. For the sake of record keeping the same user: changeset/69878880
Added a park at this same location but with totally different geometry:
The same location has been subject to vandalism, including writing with footways and multiple fake parks added by other users with similar naming schemes such as harryrooster1990. I am happy to discuss this matter with any member of the DWG at any time. |
over 6 years ago | I am also attempting to make direct contact with the City of Centralia's "See Centralia" service in order to gain more information on this location regarding both the park and the Bed and Breakfast
over 6 years ago | Note: Mapper has contacted me via private message regarding this removal requesting a way to upload photos of the location. I have provided several options and offered to assist as required when it comes to getting correct data onto the map. I still consider this removal valid as each time the mapper has modified this location their changes have been significantly different with the boundaries of the "park" and footways varying wildly.
over 6 years ago | Please do not add pretend features to OSM.
over 6 years ago | All discussion above, I still wouldn't map the park so that the majority of it is South Main Street - this isn't accurate to what is on the ground - osm.wiki/Good_practice#Map_what.27s_on_the_ground If both sides of the street are the same park, maybe create a multipolygon with two areas for the park - I don't see how anyone could argue that a road as wide as South Main is part of a park.
over 6 years ago | Hi! Is park really the best tag for this feature? It might be better as a slipway or similar.
over 6 years ago | Hi - you've added Olinger Park so that the majority of the mapped area just covers South Main street - is the park the area between South Main and South Columbia?
over 6 years ago | This changeset comment doesn't match what you did here. Did you intend to add a park surrounding these farm buildings? Please check the OSM wiki for more info on how parks are definied on OSM: leisure=park
over 6 years ago | Park in the middle of the highway has been removed. As another mapper has already requested, please do not add fictitious features to the map. If you need help adding something real but you can't quite work it out, just let us know :)
over 6 years ago | That doesn't really fit the definition for recreation ground: "An open green space for general recreation, which often includes formal or informal pitches, nets and so on." You could walk or run along pretty much any street in pretty much any suburban subdivision - it doesn't make them a recreation ground. If I was to turn up to Kingland Drive on any given day, it would probably just look like any other street.
over 6 years ago | Hi, Why have you added a recreation ground over the roads here? Did you intend to tag it as something else?
| 70566527 | over 6 years ago | Welcome to OSM.

over 6 years ago | Hi there, Welcome to OSM and thank you for your recent contributions :). In your future edis, please do not add private information such as "Garretts House" or "My House" to the map. OSM is a public map that anyone can see. Additionally, the name tag should be reserved for the actual names of things rather than descriptions. I've fixed these up for you. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
over 6 years ago | Me again, sorry :) I've noticed you've taken an interest in mapping houses and other buildings, which is awesome. We try to keep the name= tag for actual names of things rather than descriptions - you can tag most descriptive details in other ways - building=* - this page is a great place to start as a reference point.
over 6 years ago | Your changeset comment doesn't match what you've added here - did you mean to add a pond or a park?
