Hi Hannah,

Welcome to OSM.

I noticed you added your house here. You should avoid adding personal ownership information as OSM is a public map and not a residential directory.

Hi jessicam03586*@!

Welcome to OSM.

Pioneer Park is already on the map here: way/43223844
Are you able to remove the duplicate that was added in this changeset?

You've also added a house. While the house is fine to add, you shouldn't add details such as who lives in a house - would you like to attempt to fix this?

Hi LincDk,
Thanks for your updates. When I last visted Strickland about 12 months ago, there was a sign at the North end of the track you removed stating that visitors are welcome to Narara Eco Village... is this no longer the case?

Hi!
Is "Grant Notley Park and Gazebo" actually called that? Or is the name "Grant Notley Park" and it just happens to have a gazebo in it?

Hmm, I'm not sure regarding the pathways. Personally, I probably still wouldn't add them unless they were clearly visible.

You could walk through a field to access a stream but it doesn't make the whole field a path, if you get what I mean?

If they're on private property, at minimum, I'd definitely set access restrictions, because the way it reads at the moment, they're openly accessible. OSM is used by a lot of hiking apps, so you probably don't want to give people the wrong impression.

Welcome to OSM, John!

Thanks for your reply and for being open to feedback!

Another suggestion I have is to square up your buildings. In iD, you can select a feature and press the "Q" key on your keyboard to do this.
Alternatively, you can right-click a feature and then select the relevant square button that pops up.
Take your time doing this, it's a little extra effort but accurate buildings look so much better.

Are the paths you've added between houses publicly accessible? If they aren't, I'd suggest marking them as private. I'm also not sure if they'd all actually be considered paths based on imagery - are they all actively designated and used pathways or are they just places you could possibly walk through (like any open space?)

Hello again,

The correct tagging for driveways is highway=service and service=driveway. You've added a lot of these kinds of features as residential roads which is not correct.

Searching driveway in the iD editor will bring up the preset for you when you're tagging.

Have you checked out the OSM wiki yet? It's a great resource that might help you a lot with how to tag things correctly:

Hi,

You're adding a lot of natural water circles (such as way/972413110)

These actually appear to be pools, which have their own tagging scheme, leisure=pool (found in the iD editor by searching "pool")

You've also added small sections of grassland in a location that appears to be maintained... grassland is typically used for natural grassland areas such as the Prairie or the Plains of Mongolia.

As per previous changeset comment, private residential yards are not parks. This has been removed and DWG report has been raised.

Hi! Not sure if it's intentional, but you seem to have a whole heap of unclosed ways tagged as natural=wood that are glued to the outside of the closed wood relation. Example: way/970083751

Personally, I'd probably just leave the actual area untagged and add the path by itself.
If you wanted to get really detailed, something like landuse=grass might be more applicable than leisure=park.

Hi Michael,

Welcome to OSM!

Just checking that this is actually a park here? It looks very much like a regular pedestrian lane between blocks.

Hi Everoo,

Welcome to OpenStreetMap!

We define parks in a particular way on OSM, and that definition does not typically include private yards.

You can read more about mapping parks on OSM, here: leisure=park

OSM is a map of the real world. Please do not write on the map using features such as parks.

In this changeset, you wrote the word "SHADAB" using apartment buildings. Please do not add fictional features to the map, they will be removed.

Hi Tommy,

Not sure what you were trying to add here, but you dragged a few features out of place, and you seem to have added a personal bookmark.

If you need help adding something, feel free to reach out.

Hi Ali2020,

Welcome back to OSM!

Just wondering if these areas would be better as landuse=grass? natural=grassland implies they are unmaintained (think the prairie or the plains of Mongolia).

Also, is there a reason why you've drawn grass areas as several connected shapes rather than just drawing one shape for each grass area?

I've added etymology for the new name of the island, and also added the old_name tagging (obviously leaving the new name in its rightful place.) Let me know if you feel this is incorrect though.

As an aside, correcting my error in the above comment, the old name was in use for slightly less than a 100 years but still appears on a lot of historical maps and in recounts from the earlyish and middle parts of last century onwards.

108664050 over 4 years ago

Hi,
Do you think we should maintain the old name as old_name? While offensive, it was in official use for over 100 years.
